Searched your forum but couldn't find what I was looking for.

I have a buddy that's into benchrest shooting, has a Shilen DGA action and lost the extractor plunger. I have a small lathe and can make a new one but was wondering if anyone here had a photo or even a drawing of one? Tried Shilen, no parts or drawings.

Thanks!

I believe that what you need is a bearing ball that fits (not so tight as to jam) the same bore that the spring goes in. My Stiller Viper, has a ball, as do my other actions with sliding plate extractors. You could call Shilen to verify this.

The DGA had a plunger a little smaller in diameter than the plunger hole and made with an angled bevel on the edge that works against the extractor. About an 1/8" in depth. A ball bearing might work, might not. My CPS uses a ball bearing. Pandas use the beveled plunger.

Thanks guys, definately a plunger similar to the Winchester shown.

No photos of one?

The savage uses a ball and the BAT uses one like the Winchester (I think). Why not go to Home Depot & buy a ball to try. If it doesn't work, then just make one like the Winchester.

Here's what I came up with, hopefully O-1 is tough enough.

Havta stretch the spring out a little, it doesn't push it up fully into the ejector and might be how it came apart to begin with.

They usually don't have as much of the turned down tip in front of the plunger. I'd grind it off to the start of the bevel. Having the tip would make it harder to remove the extractor.

Made one with one 45* taper like the Winchester part and had to turn the tip down quite a bit but it works! :)
