I'm in the market for a Sako TRG 22 and looking to find the best deal possible - would appreciate any info on who has the best prices on them. So far it seems like Alex from Euro Optic will be tough to beat.

Thanks

Bachman's Pawn in Dallas also used to have great prices on TRG 22/42 rifles and gear.

New TRG model w/major revisions was announced a few months back. Dunno if Sako is keeping the classic 22/42 in the lineup, but if not, might find some clearance deals.

Want the Real Ticket? Buy a used gun and rebarrel. The TRG-42 is the ticket for switchbarreling since you can buy .473", .532", & .590" bolt bodies. Will they interchange with the new style? Time will tell. TRG-S rifles share same basic action (M995) and trigger, also barrel thread pattern. If the new style doesn't offer all the options of the 42/S might want to do some investigating.

FN-H SPR is the other most viable option, if you know you want short-action receiver. Variety of McMillan stocks and precision chrome-lined barrel of heavier diameter than the Sako. Also, don't have all the pathetic dovetail slotted integral base to deal with for scope mounting. Missing a few bells/whistles, but CRF feeding and ejection gives superior control and there are aftermarket magazine assemblies that enable employment of Accuracy Intl magazines. Winchester 70 Laredo would be good choice in a magnum and could swap a .473 bolt to switchbarrel and build from ground up.

Just some ideas... IMHO, owning a TRG and not switchbarreling is failure to realize potential.
