The Holton Gun & Bow Club hosted the final 100/200 yard score shoot of the 2016 Holton benchrest score season on September 24, 2016. I know that I speak for all the competitors when I say thank you (to the 13th power) to Jim Dyke, Jeff Aberegg, Pat Colwell, Larry Feusse, Dudley Pierce, and Jim Militello for assembly and takedown of the target racks and all of the other hidden jobs that were performed. And thank you to Bill Nenow for being the target crew and scoring detail. Yours truly did the computer entry and the match write-up.

For those that have shot at Holton, you know what I mean when I say that the winds were extremely tricky to say the least. The best condition to shoot in was when the ‘majority’ of the flags were fluttering between 11:00 & 1:00. And this condition only lasted for 2-3 seconds at best. There were too many pickups and left offs when the flags were green or red.

Larry Feusse (former IBS Score Champion) led the way in the 100 yard stage with his signature steady shooting. His is very analytical if you have ever watched him shoot. His winning score of 250-20X in the Holton winds was one fantastic score! Larry was shooting a 6.5 modified super jet with 106 grain moly bullets.

Matt Dardas of Essexville, Michigan won the 200 yard stage with a fine 249-7X shooting his Jim Borden Rimrock 30BR. The 9 that I shot was the only time that I missed an 11:00 – 1:00 condition. And Matt also won the 100/200 yard aggregate with a 499-27X. In second place was that one mighty tough shooter, Jim Dyke shooting his trusty ole Jim Borden Rimrock 30BR finishing with a 497-19X. And, bringing in the last payout was again Larry Feusse with his 496-28x.

Nature’s Note: Two turkey tracks were observed behind Pat Colwell’s bench. We think that Pat’s turkeys are good luck charms for him. Ed: read the next line!

Jeff Aberegg's rifle became disabled during target #4 of the 200 yard stage. The bedding let loose during record firing. He sat in his world famous chair watching us shoot during the final target at 200 yards. We think the bedding issue was caused by him chasing Pat Colwell's turkeys through the Holton woods (with the rifle).

And the winner of the Sandbagger Class (thanks to the Turkey Man) is none other than Jeff Aberegg shooting a fine 437-13X! Congratulations Jeff!

Again, thank you to all that made this 2016 Holton Michigan Benchrest Score Season a success!

Just the messenger boy…
Matt Dardas

Thanks Jeff Eh!!

Hey Jeff! Thanks (to the 13th power) for sharing that little secret about the sail tails. It works great!

Come on over to the Isabella County Sportsman's Club Gun Show on Oct. 15. It starts at 9:00 am and goes till 3:30. Dick and I will have tables next to one another. We just might have a spare chair for you to rest your carcass on.

See ya there!

Matt

Matt, you don't know Richard as well as I do. You do not go to gunshows or car shows with Mr. Wright.................... you will be broke. He's great at getting you to spend your money!! I'll be there, thanks.
