What size are the action screws and front trigger guard screw on
a 700?
Does anyone know of a source of some slightly longer examples?
Thank you
:confused:

Brownells has longer than standard hex head and regular head action screws that are longer than standard by about a quarter inch. I just got a set for a custome stock I was working on. If you'll go to Brownells and do a search on action screws they should turn up. They have 'em in stainless hex head which is what I ordered. The ADL set contains 3 screws and the BDL set contains 2 screws. 1/4X28 is the size of the front and rear screws. The front trigger guard screw is I think an "8" size" but I forget the thread pitch. They have 'em listed though.

* part# on the screws I ordered was 084-272-704

Hope that helps you find what you need.

Kent:

MSC industrial Supply and your fastener houses (excluding Fastenal) can fix you up with the right screws and at much less expense.

Nat,
Yeah, I know, but I couldn't find just the right size heads and shape I wanted when I checked a supply. However, I did overlook MSC. This particular rifle has exhibition quality wood for a rimfire BR rifle and I wanted it to be just so-so, if you know what I mean. Building it for a real picky ole cuss (me).I didn't really mind paying for the two screws, but buying 'em in bulk sure is a lot less expensive. Thanks, I'll check MSC next time. I appreciate it.

There may be a Wilders in Winston Salem, Greensboro, or Charlotte. I know there is one in Raleigh. I take standard socket cap screws and turn the heads in the lathe.

Nat,
Yeah, I've turned some of the screw heads down in the lathe, even made them for one of my rifles(slot heads, not allens). I guess I've just got lazy lately. If I can buy it reasonably, I seem to be taking that route more these days. Seems like I get lazier as the Summer goes on--hahaha.
Thanks for the tip on the places to find screws, I'm sure I'll need more later on. I appreciate it. Now if you know of a place that sells 6X.075 metric screws cheap that'd be a benefit to a lot of the folks who use Anschutz rimfire actions. Very hard to find them without paying an arm and a leg for them. If I recall corectly, last year one place wanted $40.00 for a pair of 'em. Now that was sorta steap!

Check micro fastener for the Annie screws
I think that is what it was - very reasonable.
They will even make up what you want.
