Redding Micrometer Interchangeability

It IS possible, but most people..........
"Set it, and FORGET it" (to quote Ron Popiel) Usually people change it when they change weight/style of bullet or seating depth for that cartridge. Its easier to do that, than to be switching it all about. Then, there IS the other fact, that Redding maintains that their dies are built one at a time,(so you would be introducing exchange parts that would not work "best" if they were switched about like that) rather than assembling dies from boxes of components, as they are needed to fill orders. HTH

I would think ,if you are referring to the 'micrometer head' that they are interchangeable with other 'Competition Seater' dies. I don't find however that Redding offers the competition dies less the micrometer head. The micrometer head will not fit Series 92000 seating dies.

I will have to figure this one out when I realize what I am actually being sent.
Back at home I have a set of Redding Comp micrometer dies for a 270. I just bought a new rifle and the man is sending me a set of (standard?) Redding dies in 6.5-284. I wasn't sure if I could remove the micrometer head from the 270 seating die which probably won't be used anymore and put it on the 6.5 seating die. Then I was wondering if I could buy the 6.5 neck bushing die separate and steal the micrometer head from the 270 die for that one.
But none of that matters now, because from looking at the above link, apparently I am confused in the matter that Comp die heads are no where close to being interchangeable with standard dies from Redding.

No, the Comp dies..........
will NOT interchange parts w/the standard die. As has been pointed out above, they will not sell you just the micrometer portion separately. If you want the Comp dies, you can buy them a variety of ways, but not what you want to do. You might be better informed if you give them a call and get them to send one of their catalogs, there is all kinds of cutaways and things to look at that, if you DON'T have the catalog, seems confusing. Hope this helps you out.

For gosh sakes don't take one apart. I did it once when one was hanging up and it takes a special tool to reassemble it. You guessed it, back to Redding .
