Parkerizing question

How do you get the green parkerizing color? All of my pieces come out dark grey to black. I've tried both phosphate solutions with the same result. The green military color, similar to what you see on a Garand is my goal. One tip I recieved was to coat the part in cosmoline and work it in the steel. Any tips appreciated.
 
I am not aware of any solution that will give you the results you are looking for. My understanding is that the greenish color is a result of the parts being covered in oil/cosmoline for long periods of time. I have been told that freshly parked parts can be covered in cosmo. and heated to achieve this color I tried it and didnt notice a substansial color change. Another person told me to rub the parts with thalo green die after removing from the park but before putting in oil,I have not tried it good luck
 
OK thanks, I know there is a way of doing it in a shorter time frame, but not sure the process.

A 90 year old gunsmith gave me the name of a product, that was no longer available that parkerized green. Can't remember the name of it though.

If you do figure it out please post here I would love to know how to do it. The guy that owns Shooters Solutions was the source for the dye trick,if you contacted him Im sure he could elaborate.
