I was driving to work this morning and heard Glen Beck talking about the treatys that the U.S. signs with other countries. He said that once they agree on a treaty and the U.S. senate ratifies that treaty it becomes part of our constitution! He said that obuma was in Mexico discussing a weapons treaty with the Mexican prez. Beck said that that how obuma plans to take your firearms. I hope the hell that Beck is wrong, but I don't know. It is something to think about. I wonder what the next organized plan will be after the Tea Partys? Any thoughts?

"Where are we going and why am I in this basket?"

I think the issue here is the:
"INTER-AMERICAN CONVENTION AGAINST THE ILLICIT MANUFACTURING OF AND TRAFFICKING IN FIREARMS, AMMUNITION, EXPLOSIVES, AND OTHER RELATED MATERIALS"
http://www.oas.org/juridico/English/treaties/a-63.html

Now get this:
http://www.glin.gov/view.action?glinID=79895
Note the date, of 14 November 1999! We've been living with it for almost 12 years!

care about this because it's pre Obama. I suppose one could accuse him of being involved in this during 1997???

This has existed in subcommitee but never voted on since 2007. The bill was reintroduced Jan of 2009 as Record of Sales act 2009

Joe my friend, I think you are confused on this issue. The "INTER-AMERICAN CONVENTION AGAINST THE ILLICIT MANUFACTURING OF AND TRAFFICKING IN FIREARMS, AMMUNITION, EXPLOSIVES, AND OTHER RELATED MATERIALS"
and 'HR45' are two entirely different things. Firearm related yes but that's about it.

Glenn Beck is not the sort of person whose pronouncements you'd want to rely upon with regard to Constitutional Law.

Should we care about weapons smuggled into Mexico? Shouldn't we be more concerned about illegal weapons in America?

As citizens, YES we should care a great deal about both of the above. As citizen gun owners, and the impact from both of the above could have on our ownership rights, we should care even that much more.
