New Twist on exporting

Have been exporting for about 25 years. We have a 100% compliance rating with Customs and State Department. I say that to preface what i am about to write. Exporting has not been easy but it goes well as long as all registrations are done and both sides do their paperwork. A few years ago I ran into a problem exporting into Spain-they had the proper import permit and I had proper export permit but teh shipment was seized as Spain postal service does not allow any firearms to travel through postal service. We got that one worked out. Now many nations through the UN want world gun control. they can not make it happen through a treaty so far. So, now Germany and Italy have joined Spain disallowing any firearms parts to be received by mail (or at least any requiring a permit which is just about everything except rings and bases). UPS, FEDEX and DHL for years have not accepted those type of shipments. So essentially those countries are off the list of exports from other countries defacto. Spain, Italy and Germany still issue teh import permits-but without a means to get teh product there it is meaningless.

So, beware--the USPS could decide the same thing with NO legislation!

Jerry, you have that wrong...

The country or retailers there are not to blame for this. Don't send anything with those postal services; UPS, DHL, Fedex... boycot those firms (all with US origins btw).

Most shops in the US go nuts if I ask them to send me scope rails or rings, citing ITAR by punnishment of GTMO. I could say "I won't buy anything from the US" just because someone does not know A from B and in a blind panic just won't send anything without an export license, while I can get it without any paperwork (in "backwards anti-gun EU") on my end.

Some people do know what is possible and what is not, Mr. Borden seems one of those, an example for many others. Thanks go out to Borden, Kelbly's, JB and all others that take the time to find out what's what, even if that is sometimes "no".

".

I'm wrong VT52 only if that happened by force. If the Spaniards LET it happen voluntary then I am not wrong.

In pre WW II in the USSR where guns were taken from the people by military force, that was different. I had no sympathy for the Brits who gave their guns up voluntary. I'm old enough to remember the posters put up here in the US wanting us to send guns to the civilian population. They are like that now.

I have no sympathy for the Aussies who voluntarily gave up some 600 tons of guns recently.

Even though we are letting our liberties be taken a day at a time by policies like the Patriot Act, Homeland Security, GCA 68 and such, I hope we will not Voluntarily let them take much more.

If FedEx, UPS DHL and others refuse to transport legal guns for us we need to stop using their services.

As Jim pointed out, it is not the government banning shipping of firearms/parts, but the shipping companies refusing to ship them.

Same here in NL, if you call UPS/DHL/Fedex, no one will ship gun parts, haven't for years. It seems private companies are now pushing through their anti-gun sentiment by collectively refusing to ship them and having people prosecuted who do so anyway (unknowingly or otherwise).

Is this just international shipments? I had a warranty issue with a Taurus revolver and they had it picked up and later returned to me using FedEx with no issues at all.

Jerry,
You left out the National Defense Authorization Act of 2013.

Depends on the country...

Holland they are free items, no paperwork on our end. Belgium is a different story, they require an import permit. UK needs papers to export out of UK with >4x. Everyone has weird laws.

On the US side I have never heard of anyone needing an export permit, even mildots etc. I bought scopes from Leupold, NF, USO, March/Kelbly etc.

new twist

Germany doesn't surprize me. Germany has always been for Germany' They protect their markets .
The mindset of the Un trying to establish total gun control is a real problem. The socialist movement is also on.
As jim has said he's wondering about OUR postal service being the next one to refuse shipments overseas.
