We had a fairly low turnout for the first day of the NBRSA VFS Texas State Championship. 18 shooters shot in the 15 to 20 MPH winds with Wes Johnson walking away as the 100yd Texas State Champion. After lunch the wind picked up a bit and Kenny Kuperman won the 200yd club match.

1 Wes Johnson 250 18X
2 Ralph Stewart 250 17X
3 Bill Whitener 250 17X
4 Ronnie Smith 250 16X
5 Michael Stinnett 250 16X
6 Dave Williams 250 13X
7 Jon Conley 249 20X
8 Paul Bowers 249 16X
9 Kenny Kuperman 249 15X
10 Charles Johnson 248 12X

I wasn't in the top 10 but shot a 223 had a GREAT Time.
Came In 6th at the club shoot borrowed a gun to finish. And I didn't shoot Dave"s Target.?????

I wondered

Does this mean you are going to give up group shooting? :D

if you would remember our conversation. Group is just not my bag. I'm going to give it another try, but I better do good this time. :)

Hope to make it to Tomball next weekend to shoot, but not real sure I can. I do not have a LV gun, so I debating on if I will come down to shoot 2 1/2 day shoots.

I did

remember it. :) You did well today for sure. I am not sure which is harder for me. I will not be at Tomball. We have a small match scheduled here.

I am going to try to make New Braunfels though. I have a new ppc in the works. Shot it today for the first time. It was too windy to really learn much but I just had to shoot it. I would have liked to have been up there.

Congrats to all the shooters that participated.

Quick Question. Why was there such a low turn out for a State Championship? The Tomball Club matches have had 20 - 30 shooters in the "benchrest" class alone come out for just a club match, I would have imagined a registered match to have a higher turnout.
