Looking to build my first gun.

So I'm looking to make my first gun, the State of Michigan allows private sale of long rifles to those age 16 and above (my age).
I've been shooting for fun with family and friends for years now and I think it's about time I had something to call my own.
But I've never been one to just pay for something and walk out with it, I'd like to build my own gun so I can form some sort of attachment to the gun.
I'd like to find something that I can put together with the least amount of milling and drilling with a lathe possible if I can,
but other than parts kits and receivers I really don't know where to start. Any response with tips, recommendations, links, ect would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Tell us what kind of gun youre looking for? An AR can be put together from parts with minimal tools. If you want a bolt action a savage is the cheapest route. Anything else and you can sell cars and all that to get the tooling then know how to use it on the lathe. You can have one built by a reputable gunsmith for loads cheaper and itll be exactly what you want way cheaper than just the tooling to do it yourself. Youre close to one of the best there is- dwight scott. Id recommend buying a used one and shoot it til you reach its limitations and put your money into shooting equip.

Dusty is right; decide what type of gun you want. Then, I suggest buying one that is not in factory original condition, so any mods you make will not de-value it at trade-in time. Haunt gun shops and shows, to both attempt a good deal, and to help you decide the type of gun that most interests you. The Internet will be your friend. Good luck!

Have you been to

Shooters Corner, See the main page, Categories on left, go to Complete rifles, go down to 'Shooters Corner' and click on the list. Might be one or two choices that will interest you.
Good Shooting,
