Leupold scope

I have a leupold compitition hunter 6x42m/m scope. No matter how I turn the adjusting ring i can,t seem to get the crosshair and dot to come into good focus. Would it be possable to get the cross hair and dot beefed up more so I might see it better. garrisone.
 
Scope focus

Are you turning the eye piece or the objective ring? - nhk
 
The cross hair should be focused with the eye piece. Try turning the objective to infinity and then point the scope at the sky and try adjusting the eye piece to focus the cross hair. Do you wear perscription glasses? That caused problems for me so I've gone to shooting glasses with no correction. - nhk
 
Yes . I wear perscription lens and it is causeing me problems. I thought that i might send the scope to Leupold and get them to put a heavier cross hair and dot in the scope. garrisone.
 
The BulzEyePro boosters won't change the issue that you face. In fact, if you have limited adjustment remaining on your eyepiece now, the could turn out to be detrimental, as you need to adjust the eyepiece more even more with the boost in power.

The crosshairs will appear thicker though.
 
yes I will be shooting in sporter class and have to use a 6 x scope. Are you saying Leupold could not or will not change the cross hair? garrisone.

If you don't have friends or a freind who understands how to adjust a scope properly you might consider sending your scope back to Leupold to have it checked out. There is a chance the objective lense group has gone wrong and the scope needs to be repaired.

how does leupold working on thier own scope "ruin..the value of the scope "?
they work on customer scopes all the time. changing reticles is a fee paid service....
please explain...

As has been suggested, set the a.o. to 'infinity', screw the eye piece in all the way, then adjust the eye piece out until the crosshairs appear sharp when you look through it at a white or light colored wall. Don't look through it for more than 2-3 seconds, as the eye will tend to adjust..you want the crosshairs to be crisp at first glance. Then, adjust the a.o. at the range to clear the parallax.

XBBR sent this to me a couple weeks ago, it is well worth reading. Up to that point, I was having some issues with
side focus and recticle focus. Now that its understood, I have been able to adjust correctly

With all of your years of experence and knowledge, you should have been able to figure that one out all by yourself... Because very few people will want to buy a 6x Hunter class benchrest scope with fat cross hairs.

And I get my eyes checked every spring - still 20/12 with glasses - and I wear a -0.25 and a -0.50 correction with no astigmatism. Is that OK with you?

that is a long way from ruining the value of the scope.........its still a leupold and can still have the reticle replaced should one want to.
and no i dont care about your eyes....it was directed to the original poster.....

If a clean, used Leupold 6x BR scope is worth $xxx dollars, and you have to have the reticle changed after you buy it, then it is worth $xxx, minus the cost of replacing the reticle - and that is ~$150.

I'd say that is ruining the value - especially, when going to a fat reticle won't solve his problems.
