Leupold BR Adjustable Objective - confused :(

Hey guys!

A quick question... I dusted off my old Leupold BR 36X-D scope and I can't for the life of me remember how to set the adjustable objective..

On the scope body it has marks from 50 yds all the way to infinity. On the Adjustable barrel it is marked from infinity to 50 yds. If I wanted to set it for parallax free at 100yds, which marks should I line up?

Sorry in advance for the silly question - my memory ain't what it used to be :(

Skipkh..Marks lining up are not the way to adjust parallax you must look at an object/target thru the scope and turn the objective ring until the object and reticle are crisp and clear....also make sure that the center of the reticle doesn't move on target when you move your head slightly right/left and up/down..the old "yes/no" head movement test for reticle movement on target...don't depend on the setting you get on any given day to be the same on another day...atomspheric conditions will require you to to make minor adjustments to get the reticle stable on target...

A added note

To show how temperature can affect focus, here is a little story.

A few years ago, we were shooting Unlimited at Seymour. My Rail Gun was on Bench one.

I had set everything up in the cool of the morning, but by 11:00, the Sun was overhead, and shining right down on my Rail Gun, and that scope. The heat caused the tube to expand enough to where the target was now completely out of focus.

Of course, all I had to do was re-focus.

As others have said, on most 36x Leupolds, those marks mean little. Just turn the bell untill the target is in sharp focus, and then check for paralex.

Incidentally, you will also notice that when you finaltighten the lock ring, the scope will go out of focus. That is because the threads on these things are really quite sloppy, and the fron objective is a two piece unit. The ring pushes the slack out. You then have to re-adjust to where the focus is sharp AFTER locking the ring..........jackie
