hey guys and girls i have just been offered a remington700 barreled action in excellent cond and the barrel is a brand new unfired savage ss 22" heavy contour barrel. he is only asking $420.00 australian dollars which is probly about $350.00US

is it worth it to start a build with this

just remember for me to buy a new 700p is $1650.00 in aus

Yes and still cheaper than the new Rem.... Bonus, also a chambering of choise....

Sounds like it's worth the money. But how do you know it's a Savage barrel? Is it actually on the barrel? See, it would have to be rethreaded to fit a 700. Only thing is, Savage uses a barrel nut and isn't large enough diameter for a shoulder. Does that barrel have a barrel nut? If so, that's fine....it would be one from PacNor or some custom made thing. But if not, it's not a Savage barrel.
