Does anyone know where I can can a Krieger or Bartlein SS barrel blank 1:10 twist, 30 cal, something close to a light palma contour (.700-.750 muzzle diam) that is in stock? The waiting times from Krieger and Bartlein are months! I am rebarreling a rem 700 300 RUM. Thanks.

Custom Barrels take time..

Custom barrels are made one at a time to the specs of the customer. Get in line like the rest of us if you want something special.

Thanks for the Bruno's suggestion! I see they stock several barrel blanks that may work for me. That's exactly what I was looking for! I know Sinclair stocks a few, but the twist rates were a little slow. Have a great day!

Have you tried Bruno's or some of the other large dealers. They may have what you want in stock. I imagine that dealers like Lester Bruno who probably order hundreds of barrels are always near the front of the line. I ordered three Krieger barrels from Lester earlier this year, one 6mm LV and two gain twist barrels. The LV came right away and the other two a month or so later. Probably a lot faster than if I had gone to Krieger directly.

You will find, most times, Lester will have it in stock unless you want a special. Lester even has some "non-standard' items like 6mm Kriegers in 29" and a medium taper. These make great 22" 5# 4oz barrels.

no...you have to odrer the gain twists thru bruno......

yes they have a good selection of short br bbls, but thier "listing" is not an INVENTORY LIST

The best way to get a barrel thu Bruno's is to CALL THEM and see what they have in stock. You're feedback will be immediate and you will know what they have.

I don't know if you've ever been in Lester's store but he has an amazing inventory of stuff. And you'll notice a delivery van out front unloading and boxes inside ready to be unpacked. He often sells items before he can even get them logged onto his lists. So don't be critical if he didn't have exactly what you wanted at the time. He may have sold the last one just before you called.

Your best bet is to call and ask. Lester takes care of his customers. But don't expect to bad-mouth him and then ask him to search his store for something special that you are looking for.

ok so here is the story.....
i have bought from them in the past and MAY again in the future. but while i was looking ,searching and nagging guys on the 600/1000 yd board, i pick all the pcs i needed and ordered them on line on a sat eve.
on monday i got a couple of phone calls....neither the scope i had ordered, and had watched in inventory , nor the bbl that appeared to be in inventory were gonna be mine. amy emailed and said no bbl, grafs said they sold the scope to someone else. both of these products were listed on line, the scope showed an inventory of one. i had watched both for some time.
sorry, but in todays internet marketplace, there is no excuse for poor inventory data.
all of my prior purchases from bruno's had gone fine. listed on site, ordered and delvered promptly, i had no reason to expect any hiccups.
all my prior purchases at grafs had gone well. this was very suspect, and to make it worse, they sold the rest of my order to someone else, even tho i confirmed i wanted it. then to top it off they did not ship it all, and wanted me to pay for thier mistake( all parts were on hand, in inventory and they did not ship one part). i have the action, bought a stock that was delivered from br classified's, and raw material for tooling i will build, all with no issues.
so my adventure into building my first br bolt rifle left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.
so when someone says go to xxx , and the recipient replys like all is well...then i feel correct in damping his joy...just a little.
if it had been a 6mm short bbl, maybe no big deal, but just looking at online data is not good.

Mike, while Lester's site may not be updated on a regular basis, tell me who else stocks hundreds of barrel blanks in many different calibers and contour's. Not to mention custom actions, stocks, bullets, jackets, and the like. Cat got your tongue? Lester provides a service that no other supplier comes even close to. So he doesn't have a computer wiz to fashion up a state of the art website...I got over that a long time ago and CALL if I need something.

Can you begin to imagine the headaches involved in coordinating rapidly changing inventory with a web site???? You would need a couple of people who did absolutely nothing but key in changes constantly. To think any business can keep such a fluctuation in inventory available in real time is not realistic.

I have my own ideas of some changes in Lester's procedures that would be an improvement but this ain't one of them.

Actually this isn't hard at all to accomplish. Its done everyday in the firearms business and other industries. Its a matter of having the software and hardware to accomplish this task. And the right individual(s) to integrate it into your business. If its meets a business objective and keeps customers coming back to your site because you have reliable inventory data then the capital expended to integrate the system will pay for itself.

ITS SORTA LIKE THE GUY IN THE MIDDLE OF A BATTLE...." i dont have time to learn how your machine gun works, i'm too busy filling my bolt action rifle"

yes, i understand that lester is a shooter supporting shooters, i just asking to move into the 20th(not even the 21st) century.....welcome to bar codes and scanning......

bruno

from what i am reading and i have bought from him. he is a master distributor in many things and you would probably be surprised who buys from him. when he places an order i bet the factory take note of him.

probably the nr. 1 reason is he pays his bills so there is no worry with him and dont think this isnt important now. i would bet his orders take prioirity over everyone else.

i own a small business and i resented for may years that companies wouldnt sell me direct and forced me to go to a competitor for some of my stuff but one day i just gave up and found i still buy for the same price as if i was dealing directly with the manufacture.

has lester got problems no doubt but you will eventually be fixed up and he will do it faster than the manufacture.

i say give him all the business you can after all he is an expert and a good customer relations man just be patient. he will be more patient and have more free help than most.

That's yet another reason I'm not running a retail business. I never thought of the bar codes and scanners. I just learned last week that I can make the lights go on and off with a little switch on the wall......
