I'd Appreciate Some Input on .223 Bullets for LR

I just bought a Savage .223 12 F/TR 1-7 twist, 30" barrel rifle.....

Planning to shoot it at 600, and other 100-200-300 yard local matches, I'd really appreciate some input on bullet selection.

I'm currently shooting a 6BR using 105 Berger VLDs, but am open to Hornady AMax or SMKs....or other options you may want to recommend based on your experience.

Thank you,

George

sie mk in 69 for short range, 80's for long and consider some berger and other br bullets.

miight even try some 55's for 100/200

Good Afternoon George,

I have the same rifle, and she loves the 80 grain Berger VLD's in front of 24.4 grains of Varget. I shot a 2.5", 5 shot group with it at a 600 yard BR shoot last spring. Work up to this load. You will be glad you did.

With the 1/7 twist barrel, I would give the 90gr SMKs a go for the 600 yards line. For the 100-300 yard shooting, any good shooting 75-77gr bullet would be fine.

i would not..they require a 1/6.5..or better....
i have a very nice krieger1/7 26" bbl in my inventory that was sold to me for a mere $75..because it did not stabilize the 90's....
spend your money and take your chances.

I agree with Mike about the 90's. I did some major testing with them and never could get them to shoot out of my 1/7 Savage F/TR.
