HS Precision Stock ReModel?

Anybody ever recontour a H&S Precision stock? I have one, the silhouette model, with a comb that's too tall to get a rod through the barrel and wanted to reduce it some. What would one use to reseal the foam once the skin has been ground off? I was thinking about some kind of epoxy or JB weld.

Normally, I'd just get a different stock, but the rifle shoots great and the stock's paid for.

I suggest you sell the stock and get a different one. But, you might call H-S Precision directly and hear what they have to say about your notion.

Good luck.

Yes I have reshapped the grip areas on the sendero style stock, I then texture the grip area with acraglass gel and paint.

The foam in a hs is not that soft, but you can take a little more than you need then put a layer of acra gel over the foam and then sand smooth again.

Not too difficult, and if you mess up just reapply and sand some more.

Thanks a lot. That's kind of what I was thinking. I emailed H&S but never heard back from them. Probably too busy to deal with harebrained schemes like mine.

Use to be a sendaro Stock

But I completely redid it to be a HBR stock and shot it for two years in competition, I used fiberglass from the auto parts store as well as plastic body filler never had any thing split or crack.Picture 076.jpg

Good luck with your project.

H&S Replied to my Email

They said to grind off as much as I wanted to, then send it in and they would re-glass and paint for like $200. I expect I'll still do it myself, but I thought it was nice for them to respond and offer to do some customization.

I have reshaped my HS Precision stock. Use a drum sander to profile if to your desired shape and then use fiberglass cloth soaked in epoxy to recover the exposed foam, overlap the original skin about 3/4" and when cured, sand and paint.
