HS Precision bench stock, Anyone??

I use one on a fairly heavy deuce that gets shot off a portable bench at prairie dogs. I think the HS stock may be a little heavy for match use, but it seems sturdy and stiff and works well for me in casual live varmint use. It is pretty much a drop-in affair, so you can get into action in short order once the express man drops off the package. As I recall, it has a full-length aluminum spar contributing both to stiffness and weight.
Are you referring to the model they call Pro-Series Competition stock?
They don't refer to it as a benchrest stock although it's offered in both 3" wide and Target Hunter class forends.
I have had bad luck with HS stocks, the aluminum channel always seemed to be molded incorrectly and more than once had to be milled to get the barrelled action down where it belonged. Plus they still should be skim bedded at least. Unlike the sales literature, they are Not a simple drop in.
If your looking for one to use for Benchrest Competion, I'd definitely look elsewhere...it only fits up to factory varmint contour and the stock angle is a lousy design for tracking....and as said before way to heavy for registered comp.

I started without any bedding work - just shot as-is, save for cutting the bolt handle notch to fit the 722 handle (made for the later 700 handle). Eventually, however, I had the action bedded and the stock painted. Seemed to work reasonably well either way. Maybe I was lucky.

Good for varmint work or informal local competition. However, I can't see any serious benchrest competitor choosing one over the excellent Six, McMillan, Bordon, or several other excellent stock makers who cater to the "serious benchrest competitor."

Stockade has one they call a benchrest.
The one I got seemed very light even though I never weighed it. It was supposed to be 2 1/2 pounds.
My question is what should a good bench rest stock weigh?

For LV/Sporter, about 1.5 pounds, so you can put the other 9 pounds where it matters.

In another thread, you mention that this rifle is an "informal 100 yard" and that you'll also be shooting score with it.
The general concensus in that thread was to build a 30 BR. In that context, it would be a 13.5 lb.
Have no idea what rules for "informal 100 yard" are at your club but seems penny-wise/pound-foolish to even remotely consider "informal 100 yard" requirements on a rifle you might shoot score matches with.

I have 2 h-s varmint stocks that came on savage lrpv's..both shoot very well..baised on that experience , i bought a heavy varmint stock for a left hand rem. 700 varmint..gun shoots very good..these are shot from the bench in varmint gun shoots..but are not benchrest rifles.the rem. stock was a dropin..and this for the new x-pro trigger..the bottom metal was a good fit..i did buy the H-S action bolts. none of these stocks are beded.i called H-S & asked about beding..was told that the stocks that are furnished to the military are not beded..was told to torque to 65"lbs & shoot..works out.. i'm looking a trophys won w/ the savage's..as far as fit & finish..i was satisfied

If they were worth it you'd see them show up on the equipment lists, I have a Borden on my Hv and a McMillian Bruno on another HV both for the same (or pretty close) money as the HS Precision,
If you are building a HV for score build it to IBS Rules(Not NBRSA they don't have VFS) so when you get tired of whooping your local guys you'll have a legal gun to come and shoot registered Matches with...do it right one time kind of thing.
