How much scope magnification is too much?

Going from 36x to a 45x LCS helped shrink my aggs but I can see merit in having more power - aim fine, miss fine mentality perhaps. How much scope power is too much or is there such a thing? What do you consider the pros and cons of more power?

Jackie, I see you have three March 50's. Why the thoughts on going down if you could? Is it a mirage thing?
