How important is Optical Center for 600Yds.

I know the 1000 yard guys use 20 MOA scope bases. What if any should I use at 600?

Actually it is a live varmint rifle shooting from 250 -600 with NF NXS 12-42

I think there is plenty of elevation available, just wondering if a 10 MOA base is something I should be looking at?

Most rifles don't need much elevation to get on paper at 600 yards.A typical 6BR using 107 Sierras needs about 12 inches of up to get you on the paper at 600 yards and an additional 16 inches of up for the 400 yards extra to get you on at 1,000 yards.
10 MOA would be about perfect but if your wanting to spend some money anyway just get a 20MOA base as 600 yards will soon become boring and you'll want to try 1,000 yards soon enough.

600 yards gets boring??? I guess thats a matter of opinion? Actually, after shooting 1,000 yards for the past nine years, I am enjoying the 600 yard matches more. I like the IBS format of shooting four targets for an aggragate rather than shooting against twelve other shooters on a relay. In which case, you need to either shoot the smallest group or the highest score in order to proceed any further. At least in the 600 yard game, you can have a slightly larger group on one relay and still win the match by shooting better on the other targets? And, you get more bench time. By only shooting five shots in heavy gun, you don't really need to own a heavy gun??? In fact, more shooters use their light guns to shoot both classes.
