Hornady Zombie Bullets

About two weeks ago,I got a flyer from a distributer that had Hornady Z max bullets at a very reasonable price. I called and the woman said the
Zmax zombie bullets were the exact bullet as the V max. I ordered a bunch in 22 and 6mm. I loaded the 58 grain in a 6BR. At about 3700fps
the 5 shot groups at 100 yards were in the middle teens. It is time to go shoot some praire dogs. It is 8:30 am and the temperature is 30 degrees.
The first dogs I shot were at 150 to 200 yards. The dogs flew about 3 ft. in the air and exploded. A vapor cloud formed in the air and remained
there for 2 or 3 seconds as the dog fell to the ground.
This was caused by the heat of the dog in the cold or the Zombie affect. Believe what you want to believe. I have been shooting dogs over 50 years
killing ( not harvesting) from 4 to 8 thousand a year and this was the coolest thing I have ever seen. p.s. Old Bald Guy maybe it would be best if you
did not try these bullets. with your bad eyes there is no telling what you would see.I don't want you to have trouble sleeping at night. rogina

Zombie Bullets, that name is a slap in the face to us who are trying to preserve our rights and only provides fuel to the anti firearms groups. It doesn't take much imagination to have Zombie gun owners shooting Zombie bullets.

Hornady has heard my thoughts on the name but one gun owner is not enough to force a change.

All a matter of perspective Louis, doesn't necessarily make it "bad." :)

yep i think it is as stupid as stupid gets..the zombie thing...but hornady was quick to respond and make some money of those fools..not bad actually more gun owners..more ammo sold.

Once again the firearms industry shoots itself in the foot.

Chuck.

you may think so and it is your priviledge...but this country is built on enteprise inspite of what ms obama's little boy says. providing what the consumer wants at a profit is good biz. there are people out there that believe this crap..and they are spending money.....if you did not see it there were also zombie firearms built and sold...zombie ammo boxes...

who would have guessed that a puke green tip on a varmint bullet would have brought out the politically correct? not me.

I look at it as just good marketing and it puts a few smiles on faces. At least were still killing zombies in the movies instead of making friend with them like vampires in the twilight series. Vampires, werewolves, mutants, zombies, aliens, mummys, giant killer tomatos, etc, should only be ruthlessly killed.

Glad to hear the bullets preformed well for you. Do the tips glow in the dark?

You know whenI first heard about "Zombie" bullets, I had no idea what they were. Then I saw the ad's, and I wondered what the heck...We already have good varmint rounds. In talking about them with other members of my shooting club, what is not mentioned in the ad's is this premise....
At any one time there is only 3 1/2 days worth of food in most American cities. If there was a MAJOR disruption of food distribution, people would start to go hungry, and leave the city in large numbers, looking for food. (put in the word "hord"). Taking it anyway they can (Zombies).
Looking at it this way it's easy to see why Zombie bullets are selling.

no, they donot glow in the dark. i bought them because of the good price, not to start the politics aboiling.

The zombie thing is annoying, but most definitely will NOT bring the libs to the door. The liberal media constantly reporting about gun shot victims, idiots doing on rampages, and calling everything an "automatic weapon," "machine gun," or "assault rifle" will do all the damage that needs to be done.

but, as for the bullets, it's the cheapest way to get 500 50gr vmax for me...so I'm all about shooting some green tipped bullets out of my gun.

AndrewB, the powder I am using in 2 of my 6br's with the 58's is AA2520 made after may of 2007. It was a different powder before that. Also, I have a couple
6br's that like the R15 better. You have to drop the R15 to get enough in the case and the speed is about 100fps slower. rogina

How about a little respect for the undead? Reading some of these posts, it is apparent that one or two of this forum's members aren't too far away from joining their ranks.

In the oil field if some one had not moved for a while the way to check if they were still alive was to wave a pay check under their nose.

If there was no movement you might have a problem.

The last time I called Hornady I was put on hold , FUNNIEST 2 minutes I've ever had (on a phone). I'm not a fan of the Zombie craze BUT I SEE THE HUMOR OF IT, Push the EZ-chair back and relax a little, life is short..........
