Headed to Mexifornia Thursday

Butch you nuts???
Ans. prolly NOT.
Check the NRA site for travel rules.
Last I heard. The only 2 people to get a carry permit were Sens. Boxer and Feinstien.
Oh, and their guards.....

oh, and make a copy for the Federalies.
If it is a US Military base. A big NO. You are in "no man's land". No weapons allowed in base housing.
You can shoot em'. But, you can't have'em.

Butch,

If your gonna travel around the state at all, you may come through my neck of the woods. Let me know if you do...I'll buy you a beer.

Chad and his wife work at Plant 42, but live off base.

Butch.
Have fun in SOCAL. Being it's winter, you just have to avoid the occasional mud slide. Maybe some rain. I think, it is an El Nino year. Rain there, drought here. Drought there, rain here.
Been keeping track for about 30 yrs. It's a close prediction/model. Er, whatever.
The people with the green pants, might be, Border Patrol.
If you are in an SUV, they will stop you. Give you some BS. Then claim it's for your own safety. The biggest safety hazard is getting pulled over on the highway.
Drunks swerve for the flashing lights.
The skiing at Big Bear should be good. Snow Summit is for the younger crowd. All black diamond.
There is a road called "Rim of the World Drive". At this time of year. You should be able to see the Pacific from up there. All the pollution is washed out of LA.

Letter to a TexaMex

Don't get pulled over with a loaded hand gun in California you might not make it back to your Plantation. California has a handgun open law non-concealed. Ammunition must be seperate from your driving compartment. License to carry in another State no good in California.

Stephen,
You are on my ignore list, so have not a clue as to your comments and don't want to hear them.
Thanks to the rest of you for your advice and hospitality.

Butch You Don't Deserve My Comments

I'll ask my San Bernardino Sheriff buddies if they picked up a Texas truck with a handgun headed for Palmdale. Tried to warn ya.

Going to visit my youngest son,Chad, in Palmdale, Calif. Can the wife and I carry our pistolos with us?
Butch

You would be under gunned in that neighborhood, minimum 7.62x39 or larger needed.

Middle of quail, chucker, and duck season right now, have Chad take you out hunting to Randsburg, Red Mountain, or the Owens River, all just one hours drive north of Palmdale............Don

Oh, yea.
Watch out for the baggie pants guys. Especially at gas stations. RED BLUE who cares. They don't.
Those Texas plates are an invite.
Make sure they are down for good.

Don't Spoil Him

Butch might move to California and oh my God shoot at Angeles. I wouldn't DQ him but he would know the Rules real quick. Besides those are my Quail and Chuckars especially at Randsburg and Red Mountain.

A friend of mine who lives in CA gave me the following answer. He has a CA CCW and owned a gun store for a long time before retiring. He should know.

A firearm in the glove box or concealed anywhere in
the passenger section of a motor vehicle is ILLEGAL in California.
About the only legal way to carry a handgun in California is locked in
the trunk of the car, unloaded. For absolute safety (against accidental
violation of the law) it is wise for the gun to be in a seperate locked
container. By law, the trunk is a locked container, but if taken out
of the trunk, even to cross a public sidewalk into a hotel, if the gun
is not in its own locked container, for those few seconds or minutes you
are carrying it illegally. All of my handguns are in locked soft pistol rugs (that is
legally a locked container) within the trunk of the car while I am on
the road. There can be no ammunition in the same
container as the gun, but you could, with the gun it its own lock
container, legally have a box of cartridge sitting in the trunk. or in a
bag in the trunk, separate from the pistol case.

When I go to match in Sacramento or Visalia that's how I do it. Sometimes I have forgotten to to take it out of the glove box but since the ammo is in my gun box in the trunk I probably would not get into too much trouble.

CA does not honor out of state CCWs but I think AZ does.

Hope all goes well.

No problem............!

Butch

As long as it is unloaded, locked in a travel case and not in the passenger compartment. Ammo needs to be separated from the pistol. Enjoy your visit, should be nice in Palmdale this time of year.

Keep Your Mouth Shut

My suggestion for anybody traveling to California is do your business, keep your mouth shut, and fill your gas tank at the the border.
