Harrison Results

Matt Dardas has asked me to post the results for September 19, 2020 and for the results for the year’s Corona Challenge. We compiled the three best scores of the four matches for the contestants. Many couldn’t attend all three due to family commitments and so this is why we make it best three out of four.
It wasn’t all that cold today as some would lead you to believe. I didn’t even have to dip water out of the toilet for coffee. Why even Dan Honert could have survived.
At about the time Eric called us to the line someone turned on the oscillating wind fan. This helped keep the mirage down.
Matt again gave us a lesson in how to negotiate the hazards. The problem was he didn’t tell us until after the match was over. Then he pulled off the ultimate chase the “X” game he told us to meet at Burger King for a tail gate party. We went to Burger King and he was at McDonald. He is sly.

Six Jack Pine Savages showed up to shoot the last score match at the hallowed Harrison Michigan Range. Francis is not kidding - the oscillating fans turned on high just as the first relay began firing! Attached are the few photos that I could get between targets (we shot one relay). By the way, I drew bench #10 (the last bench) for the first time in the 9 years that I have been shooting there. Brian Albee always shot on that bench.

Unfortunately, I (we)(they) got the directions garbled about where to meet after the match for a tailgate lunch. We hopefully will be able to meet at the old watering hole, The Bud Lake Bar, next year!

This is a view of bench #10 looking out over my rifle (built by Jim Borden) ...

Jimmy Militello taking aim with his hot shooting 6PPC (that gun is a hummer!). That 'darned kid' Eric Simmons is in the background. He is a fantastic shooter!

Now, here we have the Ship's Captain, Rob Fairbanks, checking over his rig, with Kurt Schultz, his riding partner in the background. Both of them can and have won a great share of score matches! They drive from the Alpena/Posen area all the way down to Harrison - that is dedication!
