Tomball Gun Club hosted the NBRSA Gulf Coast Region 10-shot Unlimited Championships today.
We had 24 brave souls out to shoot in 15-18 mph "switchy, curvy, reversing, come atcha, go awaya, why did I come out and shoot today" mess. On top of that, it was muggy , warm and humid. Typical nice Gulf Coast Weather.

But what the heck, we all had a good time. Russel Mathews, the new Tomball Registered Match Director, has assembled a top notch team to run the Match. They all did an excellent job.

The results:

Thanks to all that came out today, we start Gulf Coast Region Heavy Varmint tomorrow at 8:am.

On special note. Vic Smith shot hos HV bag gun today, just practicing, shooting 5-shot groups. But, he managed a .156 agg, laying down five straight "sweet ones" in a row. I know he wasn't actually compeating, but a great agg is a great agg. (I hope he used up all the "goody" in that Rifle today);).

See every body tomorrow,........jackie

He is on the world team and is the only person in the world that I know that can shoot thru the rain !!!

Way to go Ralph and see you in Denton

Results from Day Two, Heavy Varmint

We started out this morning with some of the finest conditions you could ask for. Very light breeze, good direction. The air was very damp, sort of a mist hanging over everything.

Surprisingly, quite a few shooters had a tough time. Most of us know how difficult it is to hit the tune just right. Of the 39 shooters, only three shot under that magic ".200" number. Things got betetr, as both Gene Bukys and Vic Smith produced sub .200 aggs.

The afternoon 200 yard brought just the opposite, very tricky winds at about 10-15 mph. Many shooters found that keeping it under 1 inch was a personal victory.

The results:
HV 100 Gulf Coast Region Championship
Gene Bukys..........1872
Vic Smith.............1890
Mike Guilliot..........2116
Tim Oltersdorf.......2334
George Clutter......2380

Congratulations to Gene Bukys for a hard fought win, and to all of those that shot well. It was good to see many shooter coming from long distances, and quite a few new shooters who have been active in The Tomball Gun Club's Club Match Program.

Once again, a special thanks to The Tomball Gun Club for hosting this event, and to Match Director Russell Mathews for assembling a great team to run a fine Match.

I will have some pictures tomorrow.

See everybody at The Crawfish April 16-17

Jackie, thanks for posting the results. Wish I could have been there. Should be well enough to compete in the Crawfish. Congratulations to all the winners.
