An interesting letter in the Australian Shooter Magazine

"If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theater of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.

The firearm death rate in Washington , DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period. That means you are about 25 per cent more likely to be shot and killed in the US capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the US, than you are in Iraq .

Conclusion:The US should pull out of Washington ."

If we can somehow manage to keep ALL the current residents there, especially the politiicans it'd be a great idea.

I saw an article

about motorcycle safety being offered to Marines. The article said there are more Marines killed in Motorcycle accidents than in the middle East

GI accidents

Speaking of GI's getting in trouble with auto's. I was in a single car accident, feel asleep and hit a steel telephone pole, the hospitial that I finally made my recovery was Valley Forge Army Hospitial. This was in the middle of the Korean war. Seventy five percent of the victims were auto accidents and the other 25% were from Korea. Go figure.

:p

I live very near where most Marine and Naval fixed wing and rotary pilots are trained and there are a ton of them on scooters in the area. For some reason the pilots seem to be better at riding scooters than the grunts, major crashes involving them are rare to the point where I don't remember any at all.
