"go to" bullet

Hello all,

Many times when a .308 "whats the best load" question comes up, the answer is many times the same, a 168gr Sierra Matchking and 44 grains+/- of Varget and often you will hear things like "if that dont shoot in your .308, nothing will".

Does anyone know the 22-250 equivalent of this combo? Is there a "go to" bullet/powder combo for a 22-250(10 twist)?

Thanks for your time.

Jamie

55gr Berger and a stiff load of IMR4064 has worked well for me and has been a so called "go to load" for a 22-250 for a long time.--Mike

Ronnie Cheek has a custom made 63 grain bullet for that type twist that you might want to take a hard look at. I got great results with it using Varget. It has a shank diameter of .2241 in. and a pressure ring diameter of .2243 in. Call Ronnie at 325-698-1318. :)

I only bought some Nosler "Custom Competition" bullets in 52 gr. recently because the bullets I really wanted were unavailable. (What else is new nowdays?)

I was VERY impressed with the accuracy of these bullets. Just about one hole performance in a varminter.

Sierra used to be THE accuracy bullet 20 years ago, but -- while still good -- it is not the stand-out it used to be.

The Sierra didn't get worse, but other excellent bullets have shown up.

Try a box of the Nosler 52 gr. in your 22-250.
