The Holton Gun & Bow Club served host to the final stage of the 2016 Michigan Benchrest Score Tournament on September 24, 2016. Seven competitors qualified for the season-ending awards. The awards were based on a best 5 of 6 matches fired. Many miles were traveled between Western Wayne Conservation Association, Isabella County Sportsman's Club, and the Holton Gun & Bow Club. Kurt Schultz won the 'Many Miles Traveled' award - trips from Posen, MI to the three venues outdistanced all the rest of us 'by a lot miles'! We all would like to give many thank you's (to the 13 power!) to Joe Krupa for providing the excellent looking plaques (for the top three places). Thank you Joe! The great looking plaques were made by Ron Hoehne.
The field of seven competitors remaining were very close right up to the last shot fired. It literally came down to the last shot fired to see who would be in the money. Matt Dardas shooting his Jim Borden Rimrock 30BR (for the last five matches) won the Tournament with a 2496-139X. Coming from third place and winning second overall was the Turkey Man, Pat Colwell with a final aggregate of 2490-118X. And finishing out the winner's circle was that One Tough Shooter, Jim Dyke with his excellent 2489-133X shooting his Jim Borden Rimrock 30BR. Kurt Schultz (outdistancing all of the other competitors) nailed down the Sandbagger Class firing a class winning 2441-83X! Way-Da-Go Kurt!
We had a great awards ceremony in the Holton Club House after the shoot. Ron Hoehne's plaques were handed out to the first three finishers of the tournament. Then a drawing was held to determine the cash awards for second and third place. The $150.00 second place cash award was won by the Turkey Man, Pat Colwell. Larry Feusse won the $75.00 third place cash award. And Matt Dardas won the $250.00 cash award for finishing in first place. Dardas Shooters Supply, Inc. provided the cash awards for the tournament.
