What is your favorite powder for 90s and 95s in a 1:10 twist 6BR 29"? I tried Varget this weekend with 95 VLDs. I had made up a few loads to test fired with 31.0 gr of Varget and had a very heavy bolt lift. I backed off to 30.4 gr and still had a sticky bolt. I backed off of the lands and went with a jump and it didn't help. What to try? I have a hand full of powders but no N-135 yet. I think it is next. Going lower than 30.4 Varget is a lower load density than I want. I like a full case.

Thanks for tips, tiny

I'll take a stab at it. What cases are you using? what Chamber are you using? what is the Leade distance? and Angle? Most important is the case NECK reamer length and or the diameter at the neck.

N135 is great for the 65 & 68gr pills & 1/14 twist....not sure it is too fast for your needs. 6br.com has a lot of info as well.

Good luck.

Brass - Lapua
Chamber - ??? used barrel I brought from a forum member.
Neck - 0.272
Rounds chamber with else before firing so I don't think there is any chance of bottoming out. I trimmed a few brass back and it made not difference.

Powders

My wife has a 6mmBR that was built by Speedy Gonzales. I really have no idea whose barrel is on the gun, but the necks are tight and I have turned the cases for it. We bought the gun 3rd hand.

It does not like VARGET at all as the pressures are way high with "normal" amounts of VARGET. I have switched to VV550 in her gun and the velocities are where they should be and pressures are down. As a side benefit, the flame temperature of VV550 is lower than VARGET so we should see better barrel life.

Keep at it as you will love this little cartridge,

George
