Don's wife Betty contacted us today and it's sad to say Don had passed away last evening from complications related to his neurological disease. Don was a good friend who introduced me to many folks throughout the benchrest community. He was an outstanding competitor when he got hot and equally as good a "Bullet Smith". Many people who knew Don back in the day could certainly share a story or two in his remembrance at this years Nationals in Union County...It was one of his favorite places to shoot.

Services will be held Wednesday July 15th. I will post contact info for those who may wish to attend or send condolences to his family.

Regards,

Pat Hurley

My condolences to Betty and the family, I had a lot of good conversations with Don at the shoots we both attended, it was very sad to see him slip away in his mind and hard to carry on a conversation with him as you tried to help him remember. He was always carrying around his computer with all the pictures of things/people to show you and try to remember.

Pat are you going to take his ashes out to sea?

Condolences to all concerned.

Thanks to another fine friend, Pat Hurley.

Definitely one of the legends and a gracious man.
Hope he made the first relay, got a lot of good folks on the first relay.

So sorry to hear we lost Don Gentner. A fine man he was. A legendary shooter and bullet maker.

I met Don Gentner many years ago at the Ben Avery range in Phoenix. I was just starting out in benchrest and needed a place to load. Don insisted I share his table and moved some of his equipment to make room for me. He was easy to talk to and treated me like an old friend. I'll never forget him and consider time spent with him a Godsend. At the same match in PHX it was also my good fortune to meet Pat Hurley, one of Don's many friends and shooting buddies. Pat, thank you for informing the rest of us of our loss. We are truly diminished.

Sincerely

Gene Beggs

Sorry to hear of Don's Passing. Thanks Pat for the info.. Don used to get empty wine jars from me . He used them in his bullet making process.. I never figured out for what.
