Crown?

I'm put my 1400 together for the bags and may want to touch up the crown.
Just the edges polished to start.
Would it be OK in your opinion to just use a brass muzzle lap and 600 grit
to polish or should I have it faced off and recut?
I suppose I could try the cheap route first but if it would not be worth while
why waste my time.
Thanks

Shoot it first before anything, unless it has been abused it will most likely be just fine. Annies have a slight choke at muzzle and do not always take kindly to being messed with.

I've been shooting it with peeps and scoped as a 100yd plinker.
It shoots good but under the magnifying glass the crown is just
not as polished as my other bbls - almost looks like very slight
machine marks - this is a 1970 vintage - was thinking about just
lapping enough with the Brownells brass muzzle lap to clean up
the marks - then if that didn't improve it just recrown just enough
to kiss the end of the rifling - maybe 1 or 2 thousandths.
Or maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to get a new Lilja 4 groove
Just wanted some input and someone to blame if it didn't work.
Atleast the wife would believe it.
:D
