CED M2 Chronograph

Guys,

I'm looking into getting a chronograph.

Does anyone have input in the CED M2?

Is there anything extra that I should know that I need along with it?

Other recommendations?

Greg J.

Greg,
I have used one for over a year now. I like it, but haven't used others to compare it to. I don't have the illuminated screens. It misses shots sometimes in low light, say a very cloudy day or at dusk. I like the USB computer download feature. I wrote an excel program to do statistical analysis of the data.

For what it's worth,

Try E Bay

There has been several Oehler 35 P chronographs for sale in the last month. But they have been selling for 500.00 +. Im sure you can locate others and maybe even the brand that you are fond of. I was looking for one myself, but wound up buying a Kowa spotter instead. Now Im broke, for awhile. Good luck with your search.

CED M2 is tops...

I have the CED M2 chronograph and have used it a lot and recommend it highly. I use mine mostly on an indoor range and I purchased the CED M2 with the optional IR lighting kit and find that it is very reliable and forgiving of sensor position with .22 caliber bullets on up.

I find the CED M2 computer interface to be a real advantage. I regularly use the computer interface to create printouts and graphs of velocities which is a very powerful feature of the CED M2 as I use it...

I also shoot .17 caliber and find it is a bit more fussy about sensor location with .17 caliber however by being sure to have the barrel centered in its orientation to the screen seems to solve this issue...

Happy shooting,

Greetings. I have one, and it's a very nice unit, when it works :( It seems (To me) to be very fussy and finicky about set up, as in set up/alignment needs to be EXACT else it won't capture data (Mine has a problem recording the exit of the bullet so I get a stop error). Set it back to CED who proclaimed it "Good, no problems."

If I shoot off the shoulder aiming down barrel through center of "Arms" it records fine, but off the bench it's always iffy if I'll get any data.

Bottom line, for the price I expect/expected much better, so would I recommend one? Alas, based on my experience, no.

Cheers,

Mark

Mine works fine. Only thing I have to be carefull about is haveing equal light on both sensors. As the sun moves during the day, make sure that one of the sensors doesnt get shaded by a tree branch, etc.
