bullet jacket failure on Top Shot

If anyone is familiar with the TV show 'Top Shot' and can access the episodes please check out Season Three shooting the Infinity 40cal. There are several very nice head-on slo-mo sequences which show a helix of lead spraying from the rotating bullets. Or at least that's what I think it is.......

comments?

Yup that's the sequence...... kinda' hard to see the spraying lead on this lo-def recording but still observable. On my 8ft wide screen it was like "Holy Cow! Is that core gonna' empty right out?"

Cool video! Looks like only one land did the jacket failure. Maybe a bur on the land, or a thin side on the jacket. This season looks to be better than the previous ones. Couldn't stand the voting crap, should be strictly accuracy/speed, no popularity contest. This from the guy in gym class that when the teams were picked, came down to: well, I guess we have to take him, put him in right field and hope nobody hits there.....:p

I watched the video of "XBBR Shooter", It is best to get some useful ideas for bullet jacket failure on Top Shot. Really nice tricks learned from the video.

We are seeing something

I suspect that what we are seeing is a vapor trail. Much like an airplane would leave.

Then there was the time I tried 70 gr BTM in my 1 in 8" twist 6mm Rem at almost 3600 fps. Fired 5 shots, only 3 holes in paper at 100 yds, nice group. Shooter next to me said he saw a puff of blue smoke at about 70 yds out, on one of my shots......airburst rounds--cool!;) Would love to see a slowmo video of that!

LOL!

I've got a Benjamin barrel in about 8-7.4 gain that, when chambered for .243AI would blow up just about any custom bullet under 80gr....... switched it to 6BR and it still pops liddle pills :)

And yuppers-scuppers on the little target swirly tails
