Best Recoil Pad Material?

I am building a custom stock for F class (O) which will be chambered for either 30-06 or 260. I anticipate either one of those cartridges will make me which I put some thought into the recoil pad. Any ideas or experience with a good material I can use to fabricate a pad? I would rather build my own than purchase a stock pad. That way I can better fit it to the prone position. Thanks.

I like Sorbothane also. That is what i ended up using on all my big mag check pieces and I tried several.
