I guess he didn't bring his teen agging AR15 since his aggs were 5 and 8 times bigger than that!

Maybe he'll find a way up off the bottom today.... But I must admit I won't be shocked if he doesn't.

Actually, I shot 2 benches away

from "Mike in Co" It is amazing how your perception of somebody on the internet can change when you meet them in real life. I had some good conversations with Mike, and actually is a nice guy.
I think if he got himself a real bench gun you might be surprised. He was shooting a Rem actioned 30 BR.

Showing up and shooting in the "Best Of The West" was a smart decision. A purpose built Rifle will help win Benchrest Matches, but Character will win a lifetime of respect.

I'm sure Mike had a great time as well.

I need to get up to Raton and shoot in the "Best Of The West"

gentlemen and ladies,
i had a great time at the match.
i would like to thank Arron French for the invite and covering the fees and room.
i met a lot of "names" and everyone was friendly, even when they were told who i was.

i am not a group shooter, and i brought a 30br with berger 115s and h4198.
i am the third owner of the bbl and had some major issues with the bbl 2 weeks prior to the match.
by the week of the match had it all straightened out and new load worked up. the rifle shoots.

friday was very mild and i saw little advantage of practicing in mild conditions when the weatherman
was predicting up to 20 mph winds over sat and sun. my goal for the weekend was to not come in last.
thanks , mainly to several unfortunate shooters, i met my goal. i did get bit on my first 200 yd target.
if you look you will see a 1.4xx. i had made a scope adjustment for 200 and my first shot went high
out of the sighter target. not knowing the rules i reported the error AFTER i was done...opppssss 1in penalty.

i was down a bench from Jim Hemmert in the loading shed and we got to talk a bit. How he shot that potential record at 200 yds
in those conditions is pretty impressive. My guess was 5-15 mph winds switching 180*.....(0.1459 agg).
Based on his recommendation , i bought some Butch's Bore Shine from Butch.

Lou Murdica donated some lt30 for me to try in my rifle.
a bunch of us went to dinner on fri and sat nights and had a good time.

Mike glad to have had you there. Didn't realize who you were when you graciously helped me set my wind flags. No better way to get new benchrest shooters than have them show up at a match. I've heard of people talking about us shooting in "match conditions". You saw what match conditions were. Whatever's there. But, people who don't know would look at Jim's agg and figured that he shot that in no wind. Not the rapidly switching wind that we were shooting. I had some groups that were close to what he was shooting except for that one shot that didn't go into the group. What was amazing though about his groups were that he was agging a .11 through the first 3 groups. His two "big" groups were mid and high .3".

Mike, i'm glad you actually showed up.

it seems as though your reception by those at the match was pretty good.
but, as someone was joking on Sunday, just be glad that we didn't have any of the really grumpy guys there!!

one small correction:
your target that had the penalty was the first 100 yard HV target, not 200. if the same thing happened at 200, you would have seen a 2" penalty (per shot) for shooting outside the box.

ok..i can take it ..i still have the avatar.....a 0.157 from an ar10 in 308 win br...followed up by a 0.116.......
shooting 1's with the dasher...
all of which mean i can shoot, can build rifles, just don't shoot group br.

lets see how i do at the nbrsa 600/1000 nationals....this will be matches 7-10 for me.
same plan..not last.
