Barrelmakers, located where?

I`m on my way to the States this fall, if everything works out as planned and I`ve dreamt of the possibility to visit one or two of the better barrelmakers "over there".
So my question is if anyone of them is located in the Washington area and if not who`s nearest?
Is this perhaps a strange question, perhaps we`re talking secrets of the trade here?

Not sure of any up there.

Lilja is in montana, as is Lawton
Shilen is in Texas
Krieger, Rock and Bartlein in Wisconsin.
Hart in the northeast.

Maybe someone else can help instead of telling you what wont :(

Rolf,

You asked about the Washington area - I assume you mean Washington DC on the east coast - not the State of Washington on the northwestern coast of the USA? See post above about Washington (State) area.

If you are asking about the Washington DC area, I am aware of only one barrel maker that is somewhat near. Douglas Barrels is located in West Virginal

As Stiller mentioned, Hart barrels is located in northern New York - just south of Syracuse, NY.

I hope things work out so that you do have time to tour the USA and visit several of the barrel makers.

Thanks, as usual guys.
Yes it`s Washington DC I`m talking about. I`ll stay in a town called Hagerstown but will have access to a car and will make a couple of two-three days trips in the area.
I`ll look up both Hart and Douglas.

Rolf,

Hart is about 5 hours north of Hagerstown. Straight shot up interstate 81.

barrel maker where

If it's DC then Hart is the place to go.
They are just south of SYRACUSE IN Lafayette NY.
They currently working Monday to Thursday
Syracuse in right in the Center of the State. 300 miles from NY city.
I would Call ahead and ask when they would have time to show
you the shop.

I`ve sent an e-mail to the Hart plant, let`s hope they have time for a curious swede with a load of questions.

I feel lucky that it was Hart that`s nearest and not one of the smaller manufacturers that`s not that involved in the BR/precision shooting business.
I meen absolutely no disrespect but overhere it`s a few names that counts and Hart is right up there.

Barrel Makers located where

Harts is not a giant plant. Believe it or not they have about 6 or 7 employees. Small but very very efficient.
I have seen the whole process. Highest quality, The highest standards of quality control. Great People'

Hey Rolf,

You're close to a few ranges...what dates are you coming? Maybe you can make it to a match or two while you're here...

Tom

I`ve already gotten a replay from Hart and they said I was welcome to visit for a guided tour whenever I was over. Man, talk about great people, just a shame I can`t bring a couple of their barrels with me when I leave.
Just like you said Gerry, only 7 employes but considering their reputation I guess they have a manufacturing process to be prowd of.

Tom
I`ve talked to a couple of people regarding the possibility to visit a match or perhaps visit one of your ranges. Would be great to visit an American range.
And I must confess that I`ve thought about trying out a couple of US made guns to. If someone asks that is.:)
So, if you live in the area around Hagerstown or on the way to DC and would like to show me around a range and perhaps do some shooting please write.

Rolf
