Barrel block

Just wanted to make sure this is legal before cutting into the Shehan stock. Shooting light (17LB) gun in 600-1000 yard comps and can't find where a barrel block is illegal in IBS or NBRSA but wanted to check with you guys before doing it. Anything I should know before designing and building my own block? Rules etc. Thanks guys I appreciate your advice and your thoughts.

Pretty sure the only restriction in NBRSA is the 17 lb weight limit.

I don't think a barrel block is an issue in any benchrest discipline. In short range, it might not be feasible because of the weight?

Rich, while there are no restrictions on blocks in 600-1,000 yard rifles, both the IBS and NBRSA short-range rules prohibit blocks that are farther forward than 4 inches from the boltface. This effectively limits you to a 3-inch block. I do use one on a .30BR HV, and it works fine -- even though it's only 3 inches long.
