ARC 100yd Match for Score
22 shooters - 18 VFS, 4 Factory

Nice day for shooting but not as favorable as past few matches. Mostly N-NE variable wind at 10-12 but the variable velocity 'got' a lot of shooters today. Only 2 Hunter rifles showed up today so with 3 needed for a class they volunteered to shoot with the VFS crowd. And held their own, too, with those 6X scopes. Mike Wall, with his Hunter gun, started with a 50-5X and then a 50-4X to give us a lesson. Won those Best Target Kitties. At the end of competition , it was Big Steve Brown anchoring 1st place at 250-19X. 2nd place goes to Larry Kochanowicz with his 250-17X. Placing 3rd was Don Mulhall at 250-14X although his adjacent competitor (the match director) was carping about Don's extra long wind flag streamers hindering his sight picture. Don pleads NOT guilty as flags were property of Bob Maedgen, who pleaded insanity....again. A fierce discussion of the rules ensued and escalated. As was pointed out, it's ugly to see 2 grey haired geezers tangle, so cooler heads prevailed and we went for BBQ.
Factory rifles were dominated by Jon Aronson and his 6.5 CM posting 243-6X. 2nd place was Joe Schoch , 220-0X, in his 3rd match. Ernest held down 3rd place with a 218-1X.
Had some good shooting today and some not so good due to stuck bullets from hard jams that ended with 'powder in the trigger'. Sometimes that 'well into the lands' gives good results but it can be a quick show stopper also. Jammer beware.
With Fall weather moving in it's much nicer shooting and we'll be getting back to our Noon start time next month. That's Oct 27, High Noon.
See Ya'll then.....Good match today.
Steve Krause, Benchrest Match Director
