The Arizona Benchrest Shooters held the LV/HV 2 Gun Arizona State Championship on October 4-5. The familiar faces of Eric Stecker and David Hamilton are back to run the Arizona Benchrest Shooters. From the feedback we received we are pleased at how things went.
There were very gusty winds on the practice days, but luckily for the 22 competitors who came from CA, NM, UT, NV and AZ it calmed down by Saturday. The target crew kept the match flowing perfectly without any delays, besides the welcome break for free lunches provided by the Arizona Benchrest Shooters.
Gary Ocock finished on top in all the LV aggs, which helped him to secure the Two Gun Grand agg win. Larry White took the 100 yard HV agg while Doc Marsh took the 200 yard HV agg and the HV Grand Agg.
The Arizona Benchrest Shooters surprised everyone by announcing the Ironman Award. This award will combine non Hall of Fame member's 6 best two day aggs over the season (Oct-April). Hall of Fame members will have their own division where they compete for a "overall best score" trophy. Thanks to everyone who attended and we hope to see you again next month for the SP-UNL5 Arizona State Championship on Nov 8-9.
If you were unable to shoot at this match you can still be eligible for the Iron Man awards. Each shooter will be able to drop one of their 2 day combined aggs or if you missed an agg. Hall of Fame members will be competing for their own trophy to be awarded to the top Hall of Fame shooter over 6 of the 7 matches. Those who are not in the Hall of Fame are competing for the following:
1st Place: Your choice of either 5,000 Berger BR bullets (6mm or 22 cal) or 5 buckets of 6mm .790 or .825 J4 jackets.
2nd Place: Your choice of either 4,000 Berger BR bullets (6mm or 22 cal) or 4 buckets of 6mm .790 or .825 J4 jackets.
3rd Place: Your choice of either 3,000 Berger BR bullets (6mm or 22 cal) or 3 buckets of 6mm .790 or .825 J4 jackets.
4th Place: Your choice of either 2,000 Berger BR bullets (6mm or 22 cal) or 2 buckets of 6mm .790 or .825 J4 jackets.
5th Place: Your choice of either 1,000 Berger BR bullets (6mm or 22 cal) or 1 bucket of 6mm .790 or .825 J4 jackets.
We are excited about these special awards but our primary objective is to run a well-organized and professional match that is consistent with the rule book. It will be interesting to me to see how things progress this season.
