What's the best neck to use these days ??? The Pros and Cons ??? Your opinions are appreciated. Thanks for your response.

I dunno, still learning, but I did just get my 0.269" reamer from Dave Kiff. Time for barrel work almost, waiting on Cobra.

Thicker necks...go for it!
I have been using a .268 neck for a few years now. Pros are of course less neck turning. Less case preparation is always good, but also one thing I like is that when you drop a case off the bench you very seldom ruin it. The necks are much tougher because they are much thicker. Those .262's always seem to land on the case mouths don't they!?!
I don't think there are really any cons... you do have to buy new bushings for your die, that's about it. As far as the way they shoot... if there's a difference I can't tell it.

I use a .270 neck and it has worked-out quite well. Easy to turn the brass. Larger than .270 and all the neck will not be cleaned-up. I am using a .266 bushing with V-133. Cut the necks to .0127. Loaded round is .2689 using a Barts Headhunter-6 bullet.............GW

I am using a .269 PTG reamer...
I went with a Dave Kiff .269 reamer. I have my barrels chambered, but I have not had a chance to test them. I plan on testing in the next few days. All that I have read seems to say this should be a good combo. Thanks.

my kiff reamer is a 270 neck......( but think i'm gonna go with a 6 beggs with a 270 neck)

I have been using my .269 for over five years, with good success.
The reason I use a .269 is ease of neck turning. As noted, Gary went all the way to .270, and his Rifles perform great.
In my opinion, there is no advantage on the target regardless which size you choose.
Unless you are already heavilly invested in the equipmemnt that goes with the .262, I see little reason fo using it today. That is why I advise new shooters to go with the .269...........jackie

spose I'll have to throw away all my .261 stuff away, turning down to .0083 takes time. maybe gunman can open them up a bit.

I still use 262 and have carbide bushings. Neck turning is a small thing to me.

Just a note on turning necks ...
I called Ken Markle yesterday to ask how much brass could be taken off in one pass and to see if one actually needs two turners to turn necks properly as some have advocated.
He told me he once conducted an experiment to see how much could be taken off in one pass and still have it mic out with the desired spec. He said he was able to turn .014" (fourteen thousandths) without any problem.
However, he recommended two passes on the same setting, to smooth things up (something I've always done as a matter of habit). Art
