I still run a 222
I still run a 222 which used to be my BR rifle but is now fitted with a hunter class stock and used to bust bunnies.
It runs a 24" lilija tube and spits out 52gn bergers at 3170fps. Charge is 22.5gn 4198.

I don't think quite that fast maybe a bit less more like 3100
Now with the 40 gr pills way more velocity. like 3400 to 3500 fps
Vihtavuori shows a maximum velocity of 3274 fps for a 52gr bullet. Their own reloading data, not mine. I consider 3200 fps a reasonable max. Andy Cross is seeing 3170 fps. Most people are aware that the 222 case is a little weak. Much higher pressures (62,366 psi) can be realized by bumping the shoulder back on 223 military brass (5.56x45mm), and trimming them to 222 length.

I have run compressed loads which put the velocity up to 3230fps. Brass began to suffer and it didn't group as well. 3170 will see it agg in the very low .3's at 100 yds.

Back when it was THE cartridge We use 20.4 Gr oh IMR 4198 with the 52 gr match pill some even were able to get 21 grs in their cases
That old IMR was different from todays It was pretty coarse and hard to measure. IT shot tiny hole,s when we weighed each charge
