22-250 reamer in mi

Is there anyone in Mi that has the ability to chase out a 22 BR chamber to 22-250 in the next few weeks. I have a prairie dog shoot scheduled next month and my daughter needs another rifle, I do not have enough brass or the time to neck turn that many cases for the tight neck BR chamber that is in it and I have several hundred 22-250 . The barrel is on a 40x,and is a Mclennan SS 14 twist.

Have you ever had this done before???

Reason I ask is, I think the 22BR might be fatter than the -250....

Too late and too lazy to go look but my calibrated memory sez so...LOL :)

anyway, I'll prolly check tomorrow if I remember
 
Gentlemen, now that you mention it, yes it would be a problem at the shoulder. I was trying to think of the fastest easiest way to fix a problem. I guess it could be set back and rechambered. Will have to measure the barrel to see if there is enough material for a new shoulder after setting it back almost an inch and a half. Of course this would be more work and the probability of this happening on time goes down accordingly. Will check out my options.

Hi Francis, the barrel is 24" and I think it was a light varmint taper. I will have to check when I get back.
It has about 3 -4 hundred rounds through it. Still shot well for a varmint type rig.

If you're that short on time and need a 22-250. Go buy a 700 ADL Varmint from Cabela's $425 + $100 rebate. Sure beats trying to get a rechamber and just sell it when you get back, if ya don't want it. Brian.

Yes this.
Bed it in Devcon or Marin-tex floating the barrel and fill forearm voids with Accra-Glass/lead shot mixture to stiffen it and fill buttstock with lead shot only and you will have a 17 pound bench gun capable of 1/2 to 3/4 MOA. Works well with bipod or front rest and rear bag. I don't think you'll sell it when you get back.

Well, I din't remember tomorrow but I did today...... NO, IT WILL NOT WORK .......so please check with your gunsmith before believing everything you read here.

Certain 22-250AI reamers will work.
 
I have looked into another rifle. I have decided it is not the way I want to go as I have already went that route on 2 of them and these cheaper version rifles are great for plinking or for build projects, they are to hit and miss on if they are going to work right out of the box.
PBike is helping me and since we have to do a set back and rechamber I am going to use a non competitive BR barrel and chamber it up in 243 which I also have brass for. Should be able to get 68-70 grain bullets to about 3550 with a 21 in barrel.
Al, I know you are a busy guy and you were right, it wasn't going to work unless we set it back at least an inch.
