I know that this is a necked down .223 with the shoulder moved forward and blown out to a 30degree but does any body have any dimesions on how long the neck is? how wide at the base of the shoulder? Trying to see how close it is to my 19-223.

If you go to 6mmbr.com I believe you will find the info you are looking for, they have a section decicated to the 20 calibers.

6mmbr nope.

That is a good page for 20cal info but couldn't find any info or specs on the case dimensions...does anyone shoot a 20 tac that can physically measure one for me?? Mainly interested in the case neck length...looks pretty long in the pictures.

Have you tried calling Todd Kindler (330-897-0614) he is the guy that developed the round?

I have two, I'll measure (the best I can) tonight when I get home.

BTW, the 20Tac is a wonderful varmint round. I shoot 32 grain bullets at 4300fps.

Take a look at a (20 Practical) you don't have to fire-forming like the 20 tactical or buying expensive forming dies. and not give up any performance. Just buy a bushing die with a .230 or .228 bushing for your .223 dies. good luck! craig

Thanks for the Link but...

Wondering if you can measure the neck on your 20 Tac, not interested in owning one just want the dimensions so I can compare it to my 19-223 (that I already own). My interest in these measurments is Lapua makes 20 Tac brass and if everything is close enough It could be fireformed to my 19 also I could buy a redding full lenght bushing die in 20 tac and just use a little smaller bushing. This is why I'm trying to find out how long the neck is and measuring from the base of the cartridge:

Base to shoulder body juction?
Base to shoulder neck juction?
Length of neck?

Thanks for the help.

And my 19 is shooting at 3700fps with a 40gr High bc bullet works good for me.

20 Tac

Measured as best I can a new unfired Dakota TAC 20 Brass.

Base to shldr body junction = 1.42

Base to shldr neck junction = 1.52

Overall length = 1.75

Therefore length of neck is = 0.23

Hope this helps - did the best I can do.

BRH

PS: How do you like the 19-223?
