    Next turning case holder

I’ve got a Forster neck turning “kit” and find the plastic/nylon tool they supply just doesn’t cut it for me. Either I’m doing it all wrong or the tool just allows the case to slip about 25% of the time. I’m to the point of searching for a reliable replacement or, instructions on how to get a...

    What is acceptable oal variance

Handgun bullets, especially cast bullets often are quite inconsistent in OAL. Measure a few from base to tip and I suspect you will find your culprit. Base to ogive distance is held to a tighter tolerance. Pistol dies often come with 2 seating plugs, 1 for flat/truncated bullets 1 for round...

    Bullet Brand/Pressure Differences?

Different core hardness, different jacket thickness, bearing surface lengths, diameter variations, ogive differences causing one to have more or less jump to the lands. lots of ways to get pressure differences between two brands of bullets of similar weight.

    7.62 Nato / 308

I don't think your die is the problem. I would check your COL and make sure the bullet is not jamming tight in the leade. Sierra lists their load data with the COL at SAAMI max for the cartridge and not all bullets work at this length in every chamber. just my $0.02

    dies

How much do the various type of dies affect the potential accuracy of the ammo produced with them? If one has a factory rifle I strongly suspect he would not see any difference in accuracy from a set of BR grade bushing dies then their std die set. What about a well re-barreled rifle with a...

    cartridge choice

I'm considering putting together a rifle for local club 100-200 yd varmint matches, target shoots (score and groups) and generally just a new toy. I am not going for a all out bench gun, but a nice varmint type rifle. Match bbl, M700 action - since I already have one, good trigger/stock. I'm...

    6x45 55-65 22"+ Bolt gun

I have a Cooper chambered for the 6x45 and have been using 70 gr MK's over H335 with what I feel is pretty good results. For data in longer barrels try this site. http://jtmiller.info/ftp/SHOOTING/6x45_loaddata_1_1.pdf

What rifle for a 12 year old for deer?

When my small statured grandson started hunting at 10 we bought him a youth rifle chambered in 243 and I worked out a reduced load using H4895 and the 87gr Hornady SP. We ended up with a very light recoiling load that ran around 2500fps and dropped his 1st deer, a small doe at ~ 75/80 yds with a...

    7. 08 to .284 win.

The 284 is a rebated rim cartridge and, shares the same bolt face as the 7-08 but does have a fatter case body and same SAAMI max COL.. You should have no trouble re-chambering a 708 to 284 but, the feeding? That may or may not be a problem

    204 loads

I load the same bullet to 2.395, over H4895. The cartridge/chamber is designed with a lot of free bore, similar to what Weatherby did with his magnums. I can not touch the lead and keep a bullet in the case in mine, a Remington XR100

Advice on loads for 223 and 22-250

If you coming kit does come with their manual (I'm pretty sure it does) you will find most of what you want to know in it. Read the first chapters in the manual and they will lead you on your way to setting up your tooling and the reasoning behind the hows and ways for the most part. The data in...
