    inletting a stock

He'll do work on any stock. I've used him for 3-4 F class rifles. Pack your stock and barreled action in a PVC pipe, put in in a box and send it to him.

    inletting a stock

Alex Sitman @ Masterclass stocks has always done superb work for me. Priced well, quick turnaround, and is happy to do an inlet and bed job without any other work.

    CBN insert boring?

I've been using a similar 6mm cabide insert tool - I like it A LOT more than something like a micro 100 carbide single point cutter

    Carbide reamer

I have the Alpha Legacy 308 reamer. I've done a few chambers with it - manual lathe no flush system. Carbide is certainly an adventure in stress and patience. It was a REAL B**** to get started smoothly. But once it did you could EASILY feel/hear any issues. It's terribly picky about cutting...

What tool / cutter setup do you use to turn rifle barrel shanks?

Yes. Aluminum inserts for finishing stainless works beautifully. I wouldn't profile a whole barrel with one, but I'd take a finishing pass with it.

What tool / cutter setup do you use to turn rifle barrel shanks?

Got some new tools and ended up with something I'm quite happy with. Thanks for all the feedback and ideas.

    Pre-boring 5R lands on small bores (22 / 6mm)

Some really good and concise points in there. I am using a floating reamer holder. I am chambering in the headstock and dialing the bore with a long indicator. What you said about the reamer needing support makes sense... I wouldn't need to cut away the lands where the pilot would be... so...

    Pre-boring 5R lands on small bores (22 / 6mm)

Would it be nuts to use a chucking reamer to pull the lands out?

    Pre-boring 5R lands on small bores (22 / 6mm)

I've never chambered a 5R barrel. In theory I understand the challenges of chambering them (in short, chatter) Gordy Gritters recommends pre-boring the lands in the neck area. In a .300 bore barrel the tools needed to do this seem pretty easy. Just use my 6mm indexable carbide boring bar...

What tool / cutter setup do you use to turn rifle barrel shanks?

What's your setup to turn rifle barrel shanks? I have a number of CCMT style inserts and parting blades that I feel comfortable with... and they work. But I'm fairly new to this and wondering... If I were to set a barrel back 1 thread, or just wanted to take a few thou off a shoulder to clock...

I've never used them, but I know the 6.5 creedmoor folks can't shut up about them. I'll give them a shot. Pardon the pun.

Fired up my dads old 6ppc

You're totally right. I have a lot of experience with Olympic weightlifting. When we trained we didn't really care about our best lift of the day, we focused on our daily minimum. You're going to have days where you make some big lift, but you can't do it consistently. But focus on the lift...

Fired up my dads old 6ppc

I think 26.5 grains of h322 and Remy 7 1/2 primers are working pretty well. (5 shot group)

70 grain shot these in a match: http://imgur.com/a/bxomG I'm pretty sure that's all he ever fired. I'll ask him about the chamber neck size.

Fired up my dads old 6ppc

Built by Fred Sinclair a very long time ago. Based on an Remington XP-100. It should still put all 5 shots into one hole at an indoor range (pending my skill). We have a couple of unused barrels still, so it's got lots of life left in it. Load data has been lost to the ages. I think it was...
