I think as a general rule if the group is vertical turn in towards the action, if it is scattered turn out. Been awhile since I used one but that was my experience best I can remember. :)

we had 17 shooters for the 100 yd score match today, all VFS. It was sunny and hot with light winds. Yerry Hollady won with a fine 274-24x score, Thomas Arrington was 2nd w 272-22x, he creedmored Ken Eades who also had 272-22x score. Thanks to all that came and to all that helped put on the match.
