    1911 Nut

I posted this story here sometime back on Benchrest. You might find it interesting. Sometime in the mid to late sixties my racing buddy and I were at a gun show. He was looking for a 45 as I was looking for a Luger. He found his 45 enclosed in a wooden box with miscellaneous accessories for...

Nut Thanks for all the info...great read. I qualified with a Garand and one of our instructors at the time said the 03A3 was more accurate. I have a 03 and my grandsons love to shoot it. Thanks again. Mort

    Darn Allenhead Bolts

Allen ALLEN makes quality allen wrenches and they are not cheap...made in the USA. IMO just as good has my BONDHUS set. i use the smaller sizes a lot and never had a problem. As mentioned before a small pin punch can loosen an allen head. Mort

    Whistle Pigs

Jeff You are right about the area I'm right above Swan Falls. I also shoot on a ranch around New Plymouth. Its south of the Payette River so I don't have to worry about shooting something I shouldn't. What do you shoot with? Mort

    Whistle Pigs

Doug I think Whistle Pigs get their name for the alarm they sound when threatened from the air. My high frequency hearing is long gone so I don't hear a thing, but when Hawks or other birds show up they pretty much disappear. The " pig " part comes from who knows. Right across the state line in...

    Whistle Pigs

Hey Tim, thought I would show you a couple of pics on where I shoot. This is just above part of the Snake River Canyon and about an hour from home. One picture shows where I'm looking when the shooting starts. The short dark horizontal line way out there is a rock outcrop. My little distance...

    This Forum Needs Help!

The makeup of clubs/forums change over time and it has always been that way. Some folks are okay with change and some people hate it. I have been on both sides of that with clubs I belonged to in the past. I think this forum will be around for awhile ....to many good people here. Mort

The American Heartland "A Long Way From Home" by Tom Brokaw. This book was given to me by my younger brother. He said the stories reminded him of family and yours truly during the early forties in Minnesota. Tom and I are only one year apart and as youngsters shared a similar experience. The...

    Well, it's been ten yrs.....favorite books/authors?

I have read two or three accounts of the battle you described but can't remember the authors and as you say it was incredible It's amazing how we come up the right people during crunch time. I'm not sure we could find those people today when needed most. Hope I'm wrong. Anyway, you got me...

    Well, it's been ten yrs.....favorite books/authors?

I have always been a history buff and that is why James Michener is one of my favorite authors. I think his best work was "The Source". I read it twice before passing it on and if I still had a copy I would read it again. Michener always did an incredible amount of research. Mort

    Longthorne Gunmakers

File Cards I'm not sure everyone knows what a file card is and that's ok. I still have mine from the shipyard and use it on a regular basis. On one occasion a grandson, not having anything else was using a file and had a lot of material to remove. I told him the job would be easier and faster...
