    Dope card for 6,5x284

Ok, thanks. I have tried many of the computer programs. I think the problem is my scope..Nikon 4-16 tac. It says 1/4 minute adjustments, but it is closer to 1/3 minute per click.

    Dope card for 6,5x284

Does anyone have one for their rifle, say 100-1K at 100 yard intervals, better yet 50 yard intervals.

    Lathe question

Pete, You don't need three phase power to run a 3 phase motor. The VFD (variable frequency drive) can split the phase for you. Although.......wiring one isn't for the hobbyist. A variable speed lathe is a wonderful thing, but not practical for an occasional user. I'd call Gilman electric in...

    Lathe question

Pete, Get a pic of the nameplate data. It might be stuck on the starter winding, and not shifting to the running windings. If it were slipping (slow) out of phase, it would likely trip the breaker and get very warm. Is there a capacitor bolted to the side of the motor? Again, a pic and I...

    600 yard question

Ok, I understand your point. I occasionally run across the urban legend of accuracy and long range, where people claim a load can improve it's moa at longer distances.

    600 yard question

Interesting discussion, but it is impossible for a ballistic spread to improve over distance. e.g. a group with .5" of vertical spread ay 300 yds cannot be less than .5" at 600 yards. In any system, you are bound by the laws of physics. Entropy always increases in simple systems....organization...

    Rem 700 action question

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0CrWCImd88 I Took this 6,5x284 to a friends ranch in S.TX, shot 17 does, several hogs and a few coyote with it. Deer all head/neck shots, out to 300 and change. Shot one coyote at 550 yards with it. Shoots fine. After I finished the build, I sighted it at 100...

    Muzzle bore alignment question

That's a tapered PTG indicator rod, a very different animal vs the range rod? I thought we were talking about range rods? The ptg indicator rods are great for rough alignment, I've even chambered some hunting rifles with them also. Put one in with 2 dial indicators after rough drilling the...

    Early 700ADL 222 question/problem

Very typical for factory remington chambers, .150 over Max coal with a spitzer type bullet. Your fortunate to have a magazine spacer to modify. (if necessary) try some loads that fit in the mag, and some on the lands, before doing anything rash. See how it shoots. Ben

    Rem 700 action question

Go for it and don't look back.... Get a 8 or 8.5 twist 5c Broughton, Krieger, Rock, etc stainless barrel for it, no turn reamer, bed it in a HTG Mcmillan stock 4-16 or 6.5x20 scope....etc etc. Cut the chamber with a little headspace, put the VLD's in touching or a little jam, H4831...and you...

    Rem 700 action question

Ben, Hunting rifle.....I put together a 6.5x284 on a stainless 700 that started life as a 270 win. #7 Krieger 8 twist, with Kiff's "norma match reamer" (.297 neck), and shoot the long vlds and smk's. The bbl weighs in at 5.5 lbs, and by no means light. No action work, just bedded it. Here's a...

    brass bulging

Butch, I had a Ruger 77 22-250 in my shop that had an egg shaped chamber. I sent it to Ruger and they recommended destruction of the rifle since it had been overpressurized. I gave it to Bill Morrison to look at and he called BS. It was clearly machined egg shaped. We bored it, set it back...

    Better Machinist than Trim Carpenter

Nat, I've put up crown moulding..... My saw has the settings for crown marked on the turn table. It's easy to cut and get them to mate in the shop. Then....I put them up and realized my wall corners are not perfectly square....threw thos pieces in the trash....so, I learned to use a coping...

    RE-Barrel

Is the .005" change between new brass and once fired, or between resized brass and re-fired? Other factors to look at is how much your brass grows (overall length) after its resized several firing cycles, and, of course, how the brass holds up. I would consider all this before facing it back...
