My 3 year old g0509 Grizzly also leaks. The quick change gearbox is what is leaking. It only leaks till the level is below the sight glass then stops. I've talked to grizzly quite a few times and they make out their report then nothing. I just quit filling it and it stopped leaking and so far...

I have only done 2 but did it the hard way. I cut off the excess recoil lug with a hack saw then turn the remaining lug round and cut a small groove in the middle of the lug. With the groove cut through to the threads you can turn the barrel off by hand. No harm to either barrel or receiver. Wayne

I don't know how close the holes would be depends on the diameters. If the d1-6 pins are at 0-60-120-180-240-300. Put the 4 screws at 50-140-230-320. It looks pretty good on paper, real life might be different. Wayne

Glad you got it moved. Like skeetlee said earlier they are a lot easier to level up than a lathe. The fun starts when the chips start to fly. Wayne

If the head can be rotated to the bottom that is the thing to do. Bridgeports and grizzlys are shipped that way. Lay 2 x 4s on the bed and snug it up against the head. Helps steady things. Then pick it up by the ring on the top. Changes the center of gravity by a lot. Wayne

Never heard one squeak, but as a rookie machinist I did hear a couple snap. Not a good sound. Wayne

The digital readout on my mill is capable of doing that but I am not. Read the book for 2 hours and still can't do it. Wayne

I use a 5/8 radius core box cutter. 2 passes down the middle to .687 deep, raise your cutter .005 and out .053 each side. A lite cleanup with a dowel wrapped in sand paper and you are good. Haven't seen any remington 700s that aren't real close to 1.356 dia. Wayne

I have 3 on benchrest 22s. Total of 10 years and no problems with any of them.
