    Kelbly Stolle Panda 4-digit serial

Hi guys, Can anybody tell me what a Kelbly Stolle Panda 4-digit serial tells about age and maybe some more good things to know? (What firing pin removal tool will fit?) The serial I ran across is "0113". I was told the action was made back in 2001 (the first 2 digits support that) but I have...

    Rimfire & weather

Thank you guys for all the replies! Today I showed the rifle to my local (rimfire) gunsmith. I do believe everything I asked made him think I live on the moon or somewhere next to it.. But what he did is he checked the stock and torque and it was good. He also told me that changing the Barrel...

    Rimfire & weather

Keith, thanks for the hint. I will take a close look at the bolt and yes, it does look pretty dirty really fast. Maybe my dealer also has a borescope.. In case he does not - i hope mine (lyman) will arrive early next year.. With the Tenex I have always shot around 240 (over, not under) with my...

    Rimfire & weather

Thanks again! Just ordered a Harrel type muzzle tuner (1.014" for my barrel) and some weights. Also I will go to my gunsmith on wednesday to have the rifle checked and get a small lot of good ammo.

    Rimfire & weather

Thank you all! I did read the thread just now and it was very good information in there! I like the idea of taking some different lots to the range. And I also like the idea to tune with a tuner. Thanks again! P.S. My scores went down from 242-245 to about 220.. And I believe it's just weather...

    Rimfire & weather

41°F is cold for me. Summer was about 77°F and obviously my rifle is out of tune now. Will a tuner help in this condition? Or should I just go and get another lot for winter?

    Rimfire & weather

Hey boys and girls, Just wanted to ask how you are adopting to weather regarding ammo. I had some Tenex lots tested and ordered the most promising one. Now during the cold weather it does not perform the same as during summer.. Does a tuner help? Or do you shoot different lots in different...

    Inconsistent results from ladder testing

Nothing new yet.. I just checked the screws for torque, they are all good (base, rings, action) So I did just order the Wilson neck sizing die (and base). We will see! EDIT: I received my neck die today. I will let you know of any updates (maybe next wednesday)

    Inconsistent results from ladder testing

No wax on shoulder and neck? Okay you are right - the shoulder is only pushed pack and for the neck I have TiN bushings.. Also I just added a Wilson neck sizer to my wishlist, I only have a standard RCBS or Redding neck sizer (I did use it a lot years ago). Thanks again!

    Inconsistent results from ladder testing

Thank you, I will do that! Actually you made me search for "dry firing" a lot and it seems as people do not recommend it. So I will get a tube of Lock-eeze later (local bike stores sell it). Another thing, I did say that after FL-sizing the cases somehow changed in form after that. Now today I...

    Inconsistent results from ladder testing

I am aware of the weather fact. The overpressure showed today just after cleaning. So weather and humidity should be the same. That's why I asked.

    Inconsistent results from ladder testing

This is a good idea, thank you! I did that Prior to todays shooting. Today on the range I noticed 2 things: 1st.: The cases that I FL-sized on wednesday have been inserted in the chamber without the firing pin assembly again. On closing the bolt I noticed that it was quite tight and maybe that...

    Making bullet Jackets

Dear boys and girls, Do you know what would be needed to make your own BR-quality jackets? I do know that Corbins offers complete die sets - but can you compare the resulting jackets with J4..? Since there are a lot of great bullet makers over in the US an I do only know of a few in europe...

    Inconsistent results from ladder testing

So I fireformed my cases today and after that tuned my FL die to size the case correctly - I did read Tonys book again for the tuning process. Now this really opened my eyes, my calipers tell me that the shoulder only needs to be set back by about .0004" for this rifle! Next week I can do some...

    Inconsistent results from ladder testing

Guys, thank you very much! I just stripped the bolt and inserted it without the firing pin - this alone did sfeel better, but it did not close by itself with a case inserted just now. But asking Google told me to remove the ejector plug & spring (and to leave it out) - so I did try that and it...

    Inconsistent results from ladder testing

By "snug" I mean it does need a little push to go down. But it's not like you need to force it, maybe just a little tight all the way. The bolt lugs habe been reworked, but the BR rifles I know close without any help if there is no case in the rifle. (This is why I do set back my shoulder by...

    Inconsistent results from ladder testing

Wilbur, thank you very much for explaining this! Now for future testing I threw all my used cases out (they will be used for prone rifle shooting...) and weighted, headspaced, trimmed and neckturned 50 new Lapua cases.. Taking a look at that N135 it looks quite promising as there is only...

    Inconsistent results from ladder testing

CMaier, sorry I made a mistake there. Of course I did not shoot for groups, but for horizontal and vertical spread. (I did not change the point of aim / I did not compensate for wind) And yes, I do have a set of 6 windflags. Neck tension is about right, should be around .002 or a little less...
