36X scope for 50 yard match

The metal is in great shape and the stock is solid, but pretty beat up (it's a former US property rifle), but I have a replacement in much better shape...

36X scope for 50 yard match

I took your encouragement and the arrival of my mounting hardware today from EGW as a sign and went ahead and mounted it.

36X scope for 50 yard match

I recently started shooting a 50 and 100 yard .22 rifle match at the local range. I've used a 6-24 scope, set for 24 at the match with my Winchester 52. I've got a Remington 40X that I'm trying to set up to use in the match also. I've got a 36X B&L scope and was wondering if it would be...

    F T/R starter rifle.

Having "issues" with the SPR. I bought a 20 MOA Winchester SA scope mount from EGW. I mounted the Bushnell Elite Tactical and sighted it in at 200 yards. In preparation for a 1000 yard clinic, I ran the scope up to the top of the elevation range...only 6 MILs of elevation left from my 200 yard...

    F T/R starter rifle.

Thanks, Bill. I need to get busy and work up a handload for it.

    F T/R starter rifle.

Good weather and free time finally coincided and I got to the range with my SPR. I didn't have much time and also had a few other rifles to zero. By the time I got this on target, I didn't have many FGMM rounds left. 175gr FGMM @ 100 yards. (4 shot group just under 1"). I'm encouraged and...

    New Remington 40X

Planning on scoping it and want to use either an EGW aluminum base ($40) or a NightForce steel base. I cant find a Nightforce specifically for the 40X. Would this one, listed as one for the Remington 700 Short Action, work on the 40X...

    New Remington 40X

Thanks, Bill. I guess that is the only thing left to do.

    New Remington 40X

I picked up my Remington 40X this afternoon from the FFL and looked it over. It looks pretty good. I particularly gave the barrel a good look and it looks pretty good to me. The rifling looks sharp and crisp at the muzzle and as best I could tell, it wasn't a whole lot different at the chamber...

    New Remington 40X

I didn't get mine that cheap :) I'll give it a good going over and post additional pics next week.

    New Remington 40X

Thanks, Bill. I'll give it a good look see when the 10-day "cooling off" period is over. Should be next Tuesday. Buying at an online auction always involves risks, but I think I got a decent deal on this one...if the barrel is any good at all. Do stainless barrels, like this one, last longer...

    Bausch and Lomb 6-24x40AO scope.

Sorry to hear about that one scope, Virg. I found an EGW 20 MOA base for this rifle and mounted the B&L scope. I've only shot it out to 300 yards so far, but it did well. After getting it on paper with some cheap .308 ammo, I switched to 168 FGMM at 100 yards Moved back to 200 yards and...

    New Remington 40X

Thanks, Td15X. I would never buy one of these at an inflated online price either. What is the best way to check the bore for wear on one of these? I have a .30 caliber muzzle wear gauge, but am not sure how useful it would be on this rifle.

    New Remington 40X

The Model 40 arrived at my FFL today and I went over to give it a good look-see. I'm waiting for a couple of other guns to a arrive, so I didn't start the DROS. The 40X looks pretty much as it was advertised...in excellent condition, with the Olympic sight attached. I pulled the sight off and...

    New Remington 40X

Someone noted that the barrel is marked "7.62 Nato" and asked if that would be a problem with ".308" ammunition. Mt initial reaction was no...but I really don't know. Are all Remington 40X's marked "7.62 Nato" or are some ".308"?

    New Remington 40X

Buying a rifle from an online auction is always an act of faith. I'm hoping for the best. I've heard that the .308 round is easier on the barrel than most. Glad to hear that the Remington barrels are good.
