another thought problem, NOT gun related

Why we gotta go and make this personal? This is where it goes to crap and the discussion dies with folks walking away shaking their heads. It's one thing to discuss/debate our idea's and perceptions of how things work but....IMO it's over the line. Some might want to point fingers as to where it...

Furthering my education via reading and attempting to understand new things :) Going deeper into the AC boat rabbit hole. AC72's and Apparent Wind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAmUcRdqhjU From the video: AC boats are now so fast "in effect everything is upwind" "we are basically sailing...

Well Al mby not so fast "The boats go directly downwind 1.8 times faster than the wind. So if you let a balloon go as you went around the top mark you would easily beat it to the bottom mark." It certainly says that but are they literally traveling directly downwind aka dead downwind...

Not hard to find info on this at all. Just a tiny bit of Google Fu effort and the answers are there to see. Seems that they can easily do it but not dead downwind, they must travel in a vector to the wind to do it. Plenty of sailboat website info with the physics explanations out there. I get...

Besides being able to quick change a muzzle brake from barrel to barrel you can get mounts for many common manufacturers suppressors that will allow you to do a quick change using the Hellfire or Sidewinder universal adapters. You can go from muzzle brake to suppressor in under a minute or swap...

Interapid 5.5" indicator stems are available now.

I made an incorrect assumption that the Mit you were using was the common short stem lots of us including myself use for shorter chambers. I use the Interapid for long cartridges and the MIT for short. We’re both doing it right. ?

Interapid 5.5" indicator stems are available now.

Yes as the 312B-15 is originally .0005" with its 2.75" point. The 312B-15 is plenty responsive to dial a barrel in with the longer point so it really doesn't matter that technically it only reads to .001". You can infer between the lines tighter than that. Per the question to how long do you...

    Rem 700 firing pin bushing?

As an alternative and a cheap experiment one can do quite well improving .075” dia pins by simply polishing the tip to a mirror finish. Inspect it with magnification and make sure no radial imperfections are left behind. You just might be surprised what this can do for you.

Here you go: 017 O-ring PTFE. I used 55D durometer. You can get a softer Durometer. I toyed with the idea of using PTFE encapsulated type O-rings that have a 55D Durometer casing and a softer core but never got around to it. The encapsulated soft core might make initial fitting easier. Keep in...

Somewhere I saved Brackney’s process that Boyd describes. I believe it was Brackney’s own words on the method. Didn’t he at one time way way back actually post for a short while here in BRC? Seems he did. He mailed me some Remington small parts for free at one time when they were out of stock...

    How Too ?

Michael Turner (known for his work with the 30-30 Winchester) I believe swaged down flash holes. He used a mandrel in the hole for size and ran a punch into the case to swage them down. Somewhere I saved his description of it and maybe he even posted pictures. Might search for it or ping him to...

    Lathe

I have an 11" Rockwell originally purchased from a rimfire smith. He used it for many years before he acquired a Harrison M300. The Rockwell is a great gunsmith lathe for lots of reasons as is the M300 with both sharing a short head-stock as their best feature for chambering with the through the...

788 "favorite for br" per j e custom

I'm not sure if it would work for that model. I see the part numbers were different for the factory triggers between the models. None of the parts that make up the triggers are the same on either but the basic design appears to be the same. Anybody know?

A different method of mounting Rail Gun barreled action.

That was the Barnard Flexibloc or Flexibed made by HHE bedding block. It seemed to be around until 2010 ish give or take. Seemed to disappear altogether. Maybe it went away when HHE quit making the Millennium actions. Someone had a fairly short light sleeve bedding block available that was...
